Queenship of Mary

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. Mary, the mother of Christ is Queen. She is queen not because of her own merits but because Christ is king. Pope Pius XII established the feast on October 11, 1954 and called the world's Catholics to renew their consecration to her on the feast day.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is Queen of the Universe. This is important because she is one of us. She is a human being who is the perfect model - after her Son - of what a human being should aspire to be like.

Our Lady is mentioned in Revelation 12 as the Woman with Child who has on her head a crown composed of 12 stars. These 12 stars represent the 12 tribes of Judah.

Let us meditate on this great feast and renew our consecration to Our Lady. In a time where the world seems to be getting worse, we can find Solace in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
0 Virgin Mary, most powerful Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and earth, in accordance with your wish made known at Fatima, I consecrate myself today to your Immaculate Heart. To you I entrust all that I have, all that I am. Reign over me, dearest Mother, that I may be yours in prosperity, in adversity, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, in life and in death.

Most compassionate Heart of Mary, Queen of Virgins, watch over my mind and heart and preserve me from the deluge of impurity which you lamented so sorrowfully at Fatima. I want to be pure like you. I want to atone for the many crimes committed against Jesus and you. I want to call down upon this country and the whole world the peace of God in justice and charity.

Mindful of this consecration, I now promise to strive to imitate you by the practice of the Christian virtues without regard for human respect. I resolve to receive Holy Communion on the first Saturday of every month when possible, and to offer daily five decades of the Rosary, with all my sacrifices in the spirit of penance and reparation. Amen.I,________, a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy Heart, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, in the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, and to thy Immaculate Heart, as thy child and slave of love, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future; leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and in eternity. Amen.

  1. Our Holy Mother is much more. When you consider you come to realize the Assumption had to be true because, as per below, Mary MUST be the new Ark of the Covenant. Mary MUST have been a living tabernacle of Our Lord. In light of what is posted below is it any wonder that Mary IS the Queen of Heaven:

    Thought this was interesting:

The thing about microchimerism is that it so profoundly explains and justifies our dogma that it should be included in our Mariological catechesis, where people can both appreciate a demonstration of how science and religion can complement and complete each other, and marvel in awestruck wonder that our Church had reasoned out this reality long ago and without the aid of microscopes. In the simplest of terms, microchimerism is the process by which a smattering of cells live within a host body but are completely distinct from it. In human fetomaternal microchimerism (or “fetal cell microchimerism”), every child leaves within his mother a microscopic bit of himself — every pregnancy, brought to delivery or not, leaves a small amount of its own cells within the body of the mother — and those cells remain within her forever.

As the only practicing Catholic in the classroom mentioned above, can you blame me for my gratified outburst? Microchimerism explained for me the very whys and wherefores of a dogma that had previously seemed like little more than piety on a sentimental rampage, leaving me too cowed to care. Suddenly, it all made sense: A small amount of Christ Jesus’ cells remained within Mary, for the whole of her life. Where we Catholics have a limited experience of Christ’s flesh commingling within our own upon reception of the holy Eucharist, Mary was a true tabernacle within which the Divinity did continually reside.

    Cheers

    1. I feel the same way and have used similar analogies in talks and catechism classes. There is no doubt that Jesus and Mary are connected in more ways than one. She is the vessel that God used to bring His Son to the world.
