Vatican Sends DiMarzio to Investigate Malone & Buffalo Diocese

Finally, the Vatican has decided to take the situation in the diocese of Buffalo seriously. After years of scandals with priests who abused minors with over 150 lawsuits, recently, we have heard of homosexual predators also in the mix.

Two seminarians spoke out as whistleblowers against the diocese, bishop Richard Malone and other clerics. They claim that certain priests made homosexual advances towards them and that the bishop covered it up and even retaliated against them.

In an announcement that was released by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of the Diocese of Brooklyn, the Vatican has assigned him as head of an apostolic visitation. The apostolic visitation is now at the fact-finding stage where Bishop DiMarzio will have to investigate and sort out the facts necessary for a full investigation by the Vatican. The bishop of Buffalo welcomed the investigation. The diocese's Twitter account tweeted this:

"I welcome & need the support of the priests & deacons, religious and lay ecclesial ministers, & all concerned people of our Church in this effort to restore credibility and confidence. Bishop DiMarzio also stated: "This is a difficult period in the life of the church in Buffalo. Only time will tell what happens after this fact-finding period and the investigation is done. It is clear that the Diocese of Buffalo in New York State is going through turmoil from within. There is clearly corruption taking place which has scandalized the faithful. This must be addressed and taken care of. Some have wondered why the Vatican did not choose the metropolitan or Cardinal Dolan. As archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the head bishop of the region. Dolan is friends with Bishop Malone. It is not clear as to whether or not he recused himself or the Vatican chose another and more objective route for the investigation.

Schools in the UK to Teach Kids to Masturbate or Touch Themselves

Just when you thought you have read/heard it all, something new comes along that tops what you read/heard before. This news is about the most disgusting that it can get regarding kids and school. Parents in the United Kingdom are upset with a decision by the Warwickshire Country Council that will force children as young as six to learn how to masturbate.

Kids will take part in classes that will teach them how to explore their bodies and stimulate their genitals. The course is billed as "All About Me" and teaches students that touching themselves is not "dirty," but rather, normal. The section "Touching Myself" encourages teachers to tell students that "lots of people like to tickle or stroke themselves as it might feel nice." It encourages children to touch themselves while in the bath, shower or in bed, but never in public.

Parents and other critics of this program have called it the sexualization of children. It is also the grooming of children, which is typical behavior done by pedophiles. Pedophiles often show minors porn and teach them that masturbation is fine. This is how they convince children to allow further exploration which includes molestation and penetration. This program is being implemented across 241 schools in the Midlands region of England.

If you have not vomited by now, then you have a strong stomach. This news is ghastly, to say the least. Who in their right mind can think of such a program for children? Why do they feel the need to teach children these nasty and perverted things? Genitals were not made to be fondled or toyed with. Masturbation is a sin and a disgusting act. It is one of the reasons why I avoid shaking hands with others. All jest aside, this situation in England schools is serious. Parents need to fight it and not let it go through, especially Catholics ones. The Catechism states:

2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."138 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."139

In Sacred Scripture, we read in Genesis 38:8-10 how God takes back the life of Onan for spilling his seed. In other words, Onan misused the gift of his genitals and the secretions they produce, namely, sperm. This shows us how seriously grave masturbation and contraception are.

Now we will read scientists and psychologists claim that masturbation is good for you, but they based this on the idea that it does not harm anyone physically. In other words, one does not kill someone else if he or she masturbates. It is not an imminent threat to society or antisocial behavior. However, they ignore the fact that it creates habits, isolation, addiction and relationship problems. Excessive masturbation can also cause bodily damage. While the age-old saying that whoever masturbates goes blind is not accurate, though spiritually correct, excessive masturbation can damage genitals causing priapism, fibrosis in males and tearing and internal damage in women who use objects such as dildos or vibrators.


Teaching children to touch themselves is vile and disgusting. This should never be done by parents, siblings, less a teacher at school. It is child abuse.

Pope Francis is in Ireland today for the World Meeting of Families. His visit has been clouded by recent revelations of how deep the sex abuse scandal really is in the Catholic Church, especially in the United States of America.  Ireland has had many cases of sex abuse by priests and religious for decades. This has led to a sharp decline in Catholicism on the nation, a once Catholic strong hold. Evidence of this decline is evidence in the nations legalization of so-called same-sex marriage and abortion.

Crowds at the papal events are expected to be smaller than normal compared to Saint Pope John Paul II's visit in the 1970s. Pope Francis spoke out on the sex abuse scandal and vowed to end it. However, he did not give any details as to how he would do this. He used strong rhetoric and even resorted to saying that those who covered up child abuse in the Catholic Church are "caca" or "Sh*t." This word is the Spanish vulgar expression for feces.

Cardinal McCarrick Accused of Sexual Abuse

Retired archbishop emeritus Theodore McCarrick of the Archdiocese of Washing D.C. has been accused of sexual abuse. The abuse allegedly happened decades ago when McCarrick was a priest in the Archdiocese of New York. McCarrick was a prominent voice during the pontificate of Saint Pope John Paul II. 

The Archdiocese of New York issued a statement saying that the Vatican was investigating claims against McCarrick. McCarrick claims he is innocent, however, the Vatican found the accusations credible. In light of this, McCarrick has resigned from public ministry.  He wrote in a statement:

“While I have absolutely no recollection of this reported abuse, and believe in my innocence,” his statement said, “I am sorry for the pain the person who brought the charges has gone through, as well as for the scandal such charges cause our people.”

His accuser is a 62-year-old married businessman from New Jersey.  His lawyer, Patrick Noaker stated that his client wished to remain anonymous.  The abuse is said to have begun in 1971. The victim was a student at Cathedral Prep Seminary which is a school for young boys interested in becoming a priest.  After being invited to serve Christmas Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the victim claims that he was measured for a cassock by then monsignor McCarrick.  While being measure, the victim claims that McCarrick unzipped his pants and molested him.  McCarrick then told the victim not to tell anyone about what happened.  After this assault, the victim claims that McCarrick flirted with him and assaulted him again in the bathroom.

Milo Yiannopoulos Pro-Pedophilia?

Infamous provocateur and internet troll, Milo Yiannopoulous is in the news once again.  This time, he is in trouble for what it appears as an endorsement of pedophilia or more proper, hebephilia.  Pedophilia deals with attraction towards prepubescent children while hebephilia deals with an attraction towards kids 11 to 14 years of age.

Milo is scheduled to speak at an event called "CPAC" which is hosted by the American Conservative Union. However, this invitation is up in the air after comments Milo made on a podcast. He said,

“In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men — the sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship — those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents."

These comments have raised eyebrows and have offended many people. However, some die hard fans of Milo are still defending him. After the comments, a podcaster responds, "It sounds like molestation to me... It sounds like Catholic priest molestation to me." Then Milo responds,

"But you knwo what? I'm grateful for Father Michael. I wouldn't give nearly such good head if it wasn't for him." Milo was using a known euphemism for oral sex in the gay community.

Then on another podcast with Joe Rogan, Milo discussed his relationship with this "Father Michael" who he says molested him as a teenager. The dialog went as such:

Milo: So you're saying you've never seen a 15 yr old girl, at any point in your life, that you thought was hot?

Rogan: Yeah, when I was 15. I'm not retarded dude.

Milo: No, when you were 25 or 30, you've never seen girls you thought were hot?

Rogan: No, I thought they were little kids!

Then the discussion goes on and Rogan calls "Father Michael' a "terrible person." Milo says, "It wasn't molestation."




It seems Milo has hit rock bottom and the point of no return. I will not be surprised if his book and speaking engagements are cancelled, and he will be forced to resign from Breitbart. Only time will tell. The comments are disturbing indeed but show the reality of the LGBT and its fascination with child-adult relationships. Josh Duggar of TLC's "19 Kids & Counting" Molested Girls

The Learning Channel's show "19 Kids and Counting" has been extremely popular. It is based on a Protestant Christian large family who adheres to conservative ideas and repressed forms of courting or dating. The parents of this family Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar teach their children to hug their significant others "sideways" and do not even let them kiss or hold hands.

While strange to outsiders and exaggerated, most Christians understand that this is an attempt to keep purity and chastity alive in a relationship.  However, the eldest son Josh Duggar recently revealed in People's magazine that he had molested some of his sisters including a 14-year-old girl.  He touched her breasts and vagina as she slept.  The molestation took place several times according to a police report which reads:

"Josh Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses — including forcible fondling — against five minors. Some of the alleged offenses investigated were felonies. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were interview [sic] by the Springdale Police department on Dec. 12, 2006. The report says that James told police he was alerted in March, 2002 by a female minor that Josh — who turned 14-years-old that month — had been touching her breasts and genitals while she slept. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions. In 2006, Jim Bob told police that in July, 2002 Josh admitted to fondling a minor’s breasts while she slept. “James said that they disciplined (redacted, Josh) after this incident.” The family did not alert authorities."

After Josh revealed the molestation to his parents, the father Jim Bob Duggar went to the elders of his denomination rather than the police which he did a year later. Josh was sent to "Christian counseling" which has nothing to do with any psychological professor or social work that requires licensing.

"Asked about the training center that Jim Bob said Josh was sent to, Michelle told police, according to the report, “it was not really a training center. Det. [Darrell] Hignite asked if the guy [redacted, Josh] talked to was a certified counselor. She said no. She said it was a guy they know in Little Rock that is remodeling a building. Det. Hignite asked if the guy was more of a mentor. She said “kind of.”

The revelation forced Josh Duggar to resign from the Family Research Council. Ironically, while, in this job, Josh criticized LGBT people even claiming that they are a danger to children despite the harm he caused, allegedly to his sisters and other female minors.  The parents of Josh claim that his crime was simply a "mistake."  Many are calling for the cancellation of "19 Kids and Counting" especially since another popular show on TLC, "Here Comes Honey boo-boo" which followed a "redneck" family from Georgia and their daughter "Honey boo-boo" was cancelled after her mother was discovered to have been dating a man who molested the older sister of "Honey boo-boo."  Josh was not charged for his crimes due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. One of his victims stated that she forgave him and that he “sought after God and had turned back to God.”  It is believed that this victim even filed for the destruction of all files related to the molestation in order to protect her identity. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.

It was not at the point of engagement, or after we were married - it was two years before Josh asked me to marry him. When my family and I first visited the Duggar Home, Josh shared his past teenage mistakes. I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn't know why he was sharing it. For Josh he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was -- even every difficult past mistakes. At that point and over the next two years, Josh shared how the counseling he received changed his life as he continued to do what he was taught. And when you, our sweet fans, first met me when Josh asked me to marry him... I was able to say, "Yes" knowing who Josh really is - someone who had gone down a wrong path and had humbled himself before God and those whom he had offended. Someone who had received the help needed to change the direction of his life and do what is right. I want to say thank you to those who took time over a decade ago to help Josh in a time of crisis. Your investment changed his life from going down the wrong path to doing what is right. If it weren't for your help I would not be here as his wife — celebrating 6 1/2 years of marriage to a man who knows how to be a gentleman and treat a girl right. This news is just troubling to learn.  While as a Catholic Christian I am called to forgive, I am also called to bring about justice in the world and protect the dignity of all human life, including children. It is unfortunate that the statute of limitations has expired. I believe there should be no expiration date, so to speak on when those suspected of molesting or raping a child can be prosecuted. Moreover, it is troubling to me how some Christians can use the guise of forgiveness and mercy in order to excuse a crime.  What Josh did was not a "mistake."  It was a crime!  Josh is clearly an ephebophile.  People with this condition usually repeat their crime regardless of any therapies given. Not much is known regarding why some are attracted to minors and what specifically causes it in the brain. Furthermore, the fact that Josh's parents sought the help of elders in a sect instead of contacting the police is horrible. This is one of the major mistakes many victims of predatory priests and bishops responsible for them did.  They did not report the crimes to the police.  Some priests were sent to "rehabilitation facilities" as if this would do anything to "cure" them.  They were then given a clean bill of health and reassigned only to commit their crime again.

After watching a few episodes of "19 Kids and Counting" I found the exaggerated form of courting to be too repressive.  Could this be what led to Josh's sexual frustration and his acting out on younger minors?  We cannot know for sure, but it may have been a factor. Moreover, Josh's comments claiming that children are in danger with LGBT people should not have been made especially since he already endangered children. I think the "speck/log in your eye" quote applies here (Matthew 7:3-5).

We are all sinners, but we must be careful with accusing others of wrongdoing when we may have done it ourselves or may even being doing it in the present.  If TLC canceled another program because the mother on the show was dating the man who molested her first born daughter, then it is only right that the program with the Duggars show be canceled as well.  By failing to report these crimes of molestation and believing that "Christian counseling" somehow fixes things, the parents have failed in presenting an image of a family that protects children. Jesus was clear regarding those who harm children (Matthew 18:6).


Editor's note:  The publication that broke the story was "In Touch Weekly" not "People's Magazine." Also, four younger sisters were molested and a babysitter. Josh also molested a sister who was five at the time, therefore, he would be classified as a pedophile as well. He confessed to putting his hand up her dress to touch her as he read her a story.

Both Jim Bob and Michelle Dugar as well as the two of the daughters/sisters who were sexually molested by Josh Duggar, Jessa and Jill gave an interview to FoxNew's "The Kelly File" with host Megyn Kelly. In the interview, both Jim and Michelle claim that they did nothing wrong. They insisted that Josh came forward to them with the news of the molestation and that had he not done so, none of them would have known. Michelle at one point got emotional. Both defended their son Josh and downplayed the molestation as mere "curiosity" from a teenage boy. They also insinuated that the revelation of this molestation is a plot by an "agenda" to destroy them. The family is not shy about social issues.  They have spoken openly and strongly against abortion and same-sex marriage so this would make them a target especially from those who feel they are hypocrites and wanted to dig up dirt on them. Both of them are considering legal actions against the police and others who released the sealed records. A judge sided with them stating that the files should not have been opened and ordered their destruction.  Jim Bob stated that he went to the police.  The trooper simply gave Josh a "very stern talk" and did nothing else.

Ironically, this same trooper whose name is Joe Hutchens is serving a 56-year sentence related to child pornography. He had a Yahoo profile listing "pre-school" and "puberty" as special interests. Michelle then stated that Josh and the entire family did go to professional counseling and that safety measures were put in place to safeguard the children.  Among these were no more "hide & seek" games, bedrooms would be locked at night, babysitters must be of the same gender and so forth. Out of the four sisters molested, Jessa and Jill decided to speak out and defended their older brother. They dismissed the molestation as a teen boy in puberty being curious. Both called themselves victims but were more concerned that the records of their story at the police station were revealed. They see this as a re-victimization.

The interviews served a bit as damage control, but I believe it added to the problem. Jim Bob claimed to have been cooperative with the felony probe, but according to a report dated December 19, 2006, he did not present his son for an interview and stopped cooperating altogether after leaving a voicemail to detective Hignite that he had hired an attorney. Both parents also claimed that they are not mandatory reporters, but legal experts state otherwise since a parent's legal responsibility is to do what is best for a child.  This negligence in reporting the abuse could get them up to a six-year prison term for child endangerment under Arkansas law.  Another report stated that the founder (Bill Gothard) of the Christian counseling facility or Institute in Basic Life Principles that treated Josh was also arrested for sexual abuse of a minor.  This story just gets more crazy it seems.

My popularity among people who pretend to be atheists is pretty much carved in stone, if you will. They go about Twitter; some even have started blogs just to write about me.. well my pseudonym. There is one in particular, a corpulent Caucasian male from Minnesota who has taken upon a fascination with my pseudonym even to the point of misidentifying it with the unsubstantiated designation originating from the suspended troll "Rosa Rubicondior" whose real name is Esther Harrison as demonstrated by  Peter van Montfoort 's search for an image of her online using that name.  How is this knowable?  Well when Jeff (Catholicgadfly) inquired about Peter's "mistake," Peter went silent which speaks volumes to the name Esther Harrison being that of "Rosa Rubicondior." Why else would he do a Google search for that name since that name produced the image he had posted on his atheist blog linking site?

I digress...

Curt while perpetuating the unsubstantiated claims from Esther has gotten the attention of a young atheist skeptic who has taken to task exposing these fake atheists.  I came across one of his posts where he inquires if Curt is a pedophile. The question is valid and free of defamation because this young atheist skeptic is simply asking the question while providing a link to the tweets (see: https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=%40curt_ames%20manuel) also (https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=%40curt_ames%20manny&src=typd) of Curt showing his fascination with a young Latino boy. This boy is said to have gone to Dodge High school in NYC. However, the school has no record of him.  Moreover, I refer to him as a young boy because since no record of him has been provided showing that he graduated over a decade ago, then we can surmise that he is possibly a teen boy since he is only mentioned as belonging to a high school.

So why Curt?
Being that I hold a degree in psychology from the City University of New York, I have decided to look into this post by this young atheist in a more scholarly fashion.  I still have my notes, books and keep in contact with my professors in order to keep up to date in the field of psychology and my other areas of study.

Manny or Not, Here I come
Whether or not this person (boy Curt is fixated with) is real is beside the point.  The young atheist skeptic is more concerned with the fixation Curt has rather than the name of the person Curt mentions. I too wonder why this Caucasian male is so zealous in his fixation with a child who was mentioned as belonging to a high school.  This fixation can demonstrate an underlying paraphilia such as pedophilia/ephebephilia or perhaps fetishism that Curt is exhibiting subconsciously (Blanchard et.al, 2009).  The fixation is clearly public via Curt's tweets and raises many questions.

While the etiology of the term "pedophilia" normally entails attraction to prepubertal children (DSM IV TR; Kring et.al, p. 403), it can also include adolescents (Marshall, 1997).  Curt's fixation with "Manuel or Manny" of Dodge high school seems to demonstrate this attraction towards an adolescent. Most of his tweets are worded so as to show that he has "power" over "Manuel or Manny." He uses these names to demonstrate a sense of control which is typical of someone who has the paraphilias of pedophilia and ephebophilia.  This control serves as part of sexual gratification and is called Sexual Sadism (Kring et.al, 403).  Moreover, his attempted use of anonymity further details his quest to feel powerful in any situation online.  He believes himself to be untraceable and in doing so is exhibiting grandiose traits which is typical of someone suffering from a personality disorder. Furthermore, those with these paraphilias are typically Caucasian males over the age of 30.  They display a fascination or strange fixation and interest with children, including teenagers.  Curt's tweets seem to demonstrate this behavior.  He is in fact a Caucasian male and according to his image, looks to be over the age of 30. Moreover, those with these paraphilias tend to be loners, socially awkward in real life.  They use social networks or the internet in order to expound on their paraphilia and to "branch out" and socialize since they cannot do so offline (Durkin, 1997). Many times, they are unemployed.  Curt's Twitter habits seems to indicated that he has a lot of time which may mean that he is unemployed since jobs typically do not allow workers to use company time for person things such as social networking.  Furthermore, people with these paraphilias have hobbies and interests that are juvenile in nature. Curt's own profile has had several images of toys and other "kiddie" imagery indicating that he likes things that are typically for children.  This is an indication of his ego-syntonic traits.  See these images of Curt's profiles and images he has used as an avatar which are "kiddie" in nature:

The young skeptic blogger is indeed in the right to inquire about Curt.  Curt clearly seems to be exhibiting the characteristics, both explicit and implicit for pedophilia and ephebophilia. Let me be clear, I am not saying that Curt is one but that he exhibits the traits of one based on his tweets and ego-syntonic traits which are public for all to see. It makes no sense for a Caucasian male over age 30 to be fixated on the identity of a male Latino youth from the Bronx unless there is something behind this, psychologically speaking.  Take this tweet for example:

In this tweet above, Curt messaged my old Twitter account with a comment showing that he was thinking of pedophilia and the action of engaging a young boy as a lover.  This is parapraxis at work. His subconscious clearly recalled his understanding and memory of pedophilia and projected it on my Twitter account via what he knows of me: future priest and that altar servers help priests.  The comment is clearly being used to offend or attack me which is typical of psychological projection, or a defense mechanism which denies a trait in oneself and deflects it to another. Moreover, in his first tweets to me he exhibited envy at my academic success indicating he may have an inferiority complex which is comorbid with paraphilias. Notice that everything is publicly available to view and hence why this young atheist skeptic wrote the post.  He too was labeled "Manny" for simply questioning the nonsense posted on Esther's "Rosa" blog.  Ironically, Curt is now whining and calling on people to falsely report this young skeptic for being a skeptic and asking questions.  With this action we can see that Curt and those who respond to his antics are not atheists.  No atheist (I used to be one) would even censor speech or criticism.  Not taking things at face value is one of the traits of being an atheist.  Real atheists do not believe things without evidence.  It just does not work that way.  Now this is not a "no true Scotsman" fallacy because words are clearly defined as are social scripts such as atheism/atheist.   It seems that Curt has taken on the social script of an atheist in order to mask his inner psychological demons.  Atheism gives the bearer of this ideology the ability to behave in any manner, even if it is anti-social.  This is a perfect cover for anyone suffering from paraphilias or other personality disorders.

It is interesting to note that the group NAMBLA, or "North American Man/Boy Love Association" was founded by an atheist and homosexual named David Thorstad (Kennedy, 1991).  Many people are not aware of this fact.  Atheists many times present themselves as being moral and point at the failings of some priests as evidence that religion encourages pederasty while there are none in their ranks.  This is far from the truth.

The "Case of Curt" is not meant to defame or disparage "Curt_ames" but to expound on the inquiry done by the young atheist skeptic who had the courage to take on two of the most popular atheist caricatures on Twitter: Curt & Esther (Rosa).  In this post I simply present the facts and evidence indicating the comorbidity of any possible pathological condition(s) Curt may be suffering from which only astute thinkers and those who are knowledgeable in psychology can spot.  Based on his Tweets and online behavior as well as his ego-syntonic traits, the signs are present indicating an unhealthy attraction to a young Latino boy or subliminal representation of a human with youthful and ethnic traits.  Further investigation is warranted.

Pope: 2% Clergy are Pedophiles

Once again Pope Francis is making headlines for supposed comments he made to atheist reporter Eugenio Scalfari in the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica." In this report, Scalfari claims that Pope Francis stated that "2% of Catholic clergy are pedophiles." He continued (supposedly) that pedophilia is a "leprosy" in the Church.

Lombardi, spokesman for the Vatican, he said that the interview was not an interview, but a conversation.  Lombardi also added that this "interview" that's not an interview was not recorded basically alluding that Scalfari may have given his own spin on the Pope's words.  This may be the case and is not the first time the media has taken the Popes words out of context.

The news has been trending around the internet, especially among atheists who claim to want to rid the world or religion, but always are the first to know what's going on in the world of religion; sometimes before religious people including yours truly!

Pope Meets Victims

Pope Francis met with six victims of sex abuse by Catholic clergy.  He said in what the media is calling one of the strongest condemnations of the sex abuse scandal:

"Before God and his people, I express my sorrow for the sins and grave crimes of clerical sexual abuse committed against you. And I humbly ask forgiveness, the sexual abuse of minors by priests and other men of the cloth required the church to "make reparation."

This is not the first time a Pope has met with victims of sex abuse. Saint John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI have met with them in the past. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI took on the scandals head on by removing priests and bishops.  Our current Pontiff is continuing to clean up the Church of this filth.

However, groups such as "SNAP are not content with today's meeting. They seem to think that the Pope has power to arrest and prosecute people as secular governments do. The Church can only defrock clerics, they cannot arrest anyone.  Moreover, if civil authorities cannot prosecute these defrocked clerics, then the problem lies with local laws, not the Church.  More needs to be done to either extent statutes of limitations or remove them completely.

In my opinion, more needs to be done to address this scandal. Meetings with victims, drafting charters are not enough.  The Vatican must go after those bishops and heads of religious provinces who transferred abusive priests around knowing they were problematic.  As long as these "leaders" remain in power or in good standing, then any attempt to remedy the scandals via meetings and what not will be seen as "show."

The scene where Peter sees Jesus emerge after a terrible interrogation… Peter whose eyes meet the gaze of Jesus and weeps… This scene comes to my mind as I look at you, and think of so many men and women, boys and girls. I feel the gaze of Jesus and I ask for the grace to weep, the grace for the Church to weep and make reparation for her sons and daughters who betrayed their mission, who abused innocent persons. Today, I am very grateful to you for having travelled so far to come here.
For some time now I have felt in my heart deep pain and suffering. So much time hidden, camouflaged with a complicity that cannot be explained until someone realized that Jesus was looking and others the same… and they set about to sustain that gaze.
And those few who began to weep have touched our conscience for this crime and grave sin. This is what causes me distress and pain at the fact that some priests and bishops, by sexually abusing minors, violated their innocence and their own priestly vocation. It is something more than despicable actions. It is like a sacrilegious cult, because these boys and girls had been entrusted to the priestly charism in order to be brought to God. And those people sacrificed them to the idol of their own concupiscence. They profane the very image of God in whose likeness we were created. Childhood, as we all know, young hearts, so open and trusting, have their own way of understanding the mysteries of God’s love and are eager to grow in the faith. Today the heart of the Church looks into the eyes of Jesus in these boys and girls and wants to weep; she asks the grace to weep before the execrable acts of abuse which have left life long scars.
I know that these wounds are a source of deep and often unrelenting emotional and spiritual pain, and even despair. Many of those who have suffered in this way have also sought relief in the path of addiction. Others have experienced difficulties in significant relationships, with parents, spouses and children. Suffering in families has been especially grave, since the damage provoked by abuse affects these vital family relationships.
Some have even had to deal with the terrible tragedy of the death of a loved one by suicide. The deaths of these so beloved children of God weigh upon the heart and my conscience and that of the whole Church. To these families I express my heartfelt love and sorrow. Jesus, tortured and interrogated with passionate hatred, is taken to another place and he looks out. He looks out upon one of his own torturers, the one who denied him, and he makes him weep. Let us implore this grace together with that of making amends.
Sins of clerical sexual abuse against minors have a toxic effect on faith and hope in God. Some of you have held fast to faith, while for others the experience of betrayal and abandonment has led to a weakening of faith in God. Your presence here speaks of the miracle of hope, which prevails against the deepest darkness. Surely it is a sign of God’s mercy that today we have this opportunity to encounter one another, to adore God, to look in one another’s eyes and seek the grace of reconciliation.
Before God and his people I express my sorrow for the sins and grave crimes of clerical sexual abuse committed against you. And I humbly ask forgiveness.
I beg your forgiveness, too, for the sins of omission on the part of Church leaders who did not respond adequately to reports of abuse made by family members, as well as by abuse victims themselves. This led to even greater suffering on the part of those who were abused and it endangered other minors who were at risk.
On the other hand, the courage that you and others have shown by speaking up, by telling the truth, was a service of love, since for us it shed light on a terrible darkness in the life of the Church. There is no place in the Church’s ministry for those who commit these abuses, and I commit myself not to tolerate harm done to a minor by any individual, whether a cleric or not. All bishops must carry out their pastoral ministry with the utmost care in order to help foster the protection of minors, and they will be held accountable.
What Jesus says about those who cause scandal applies to all of us: the millstone and the sea (cf. Mt 18:6).
By the same token we will continue to exercise vigilance in priestly formation. I am counting on the members of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, all minors, whatever religion they belong to, they are little flowers which God looks lovingly upon.
I ask this support so as to help me ensure that we develop better policies and procedures in the universal Church for the protection of minors and for the training of church personnel in implementing those policies and procedures. We need to do everything in our power to ensure that these sins have no place in the Church.
Dear brothers and sisters, because we are all members of God’s family, we are called to live lives shaped by mercy. The Lord Jesus, our Savior, is the supreme example of this; though innocent, he took our sins upon himself on the cross. To be reconciled is the very essence of our shared identity as followers of Jesus Christ. By turning back to him, accompanied by our most holy Mother, who stood sorrowing at the foot of the cross, let us seek the grace of reconciliation with the entire people of God. The loving intercession of Our Lady of Tender Mercy is an unfailing source of help in the process of our healing.
You and all those who were abused by clergy are loved by God. I pray that the remnants of the darkness which touched you may be healed by the embrace of the Child Jesus and that the harm which was done to you will give way to renewed faith and joy.
I am grateful for this meeting. And please pray for me, so that the eyes of my heart will always clearly see the path of merciful love, and that God will grant me the courage to persevere on this path for the good of all children and young people. Jesus comes forth from an unjust trial, from a cruel interrogation and he looks in the eyes of Peter, and Peter weeps. We ask that he look at us and that we allow ourselves to be looked upon and to weep and that he give us the grace to be ashamed, so that, like Peter, forty days later, we can reply: “You know that I love you”; and hear him say: “go back and feed my sheep” – and I would add – “let no wolf enter the sheepfold”.
