I love art. Art is one of the ways to best express ourselves intellectually and emotionally. However, some things that are presented as art are not. They are depictions of ignorance, hatred and narrow mindedness.
Niki Johnson, 25 created a display of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI using 17,000 condoms. Johnson claims the display came about after hearing Pope Benedict XVI's message regarding condom use in Africa. The Pope Emeritus received a lot of criticism for his remarks on condoms and how they are not helping bring down HIV infection.
He was indeed right! There is so much promotion of condoms throughout the world and yet HIV is still rising, especially among the LGBT community. The media ignores this for obvious reasons.
Johnson's display is not art, it is garbage. It is offensive and shows the ignorance this person has regarding the issue. Instead of wasting time constructing this offensive thing, Johnson should dedicate time in studying the facts and seeing why Pope Emeritus said what he said. Condoms are not doing anything to prevent or slow down HIV. Condoms create an atmosphere of promiscuity and lasciviousness. Persons cease being persons and become sex objects.
I urge all my brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church as well as my friends of other faiths to protest this artist and this disturbing work.

No Condoms at Prom
This world just continues to lose its reason. A school in NY made plans to distribute 500 condoms to its students on prom night! Thank the good Lord that this stupid idea was canceled. The school received backlash from the idea of handing out condoms and decided to pull the plug, so to speak.
I understand the argument that we need to "protect" kids, but handing them condoms isn't protection. This gives them the idea that promiscuity is ok. It is encouraging them to be sexually active with anyone at any time. It is like handing out clean syringes to drug addicts. The intention might be seen as a good (protect from HIV), but it is really stupid.
We should have as a goal the complete removal of drug addiction, not an appeasement to it. Condoms are the same. We should have as a goal the installation of values to young people and not appease their sexual desires which are most likely influenced by the media.
The facts are clear about condoms - they are not helping. See my other blog here for more details "Let kids be kids"

Listen To Laity On Contraception
The Bishop cannot be in every place. The Priest has more access to the Laity and can provide much insight on where they stand spiritually and temporally. Contraception is a hot issue in the USA. Some claim the Church's teaching on it is outdated and immoral. However, they fail to see that Contraception is dangerous not just health-wise but spiritually.
With Contraception, man becomes God by becoming an end to himself. Human beings dictate who is to be born, when and how. Sex becomes a pass time of pleasure instead of an exchange of mutual love open to new life. Contraception makes pregnancy, birth and children seem like a burden or a disease that must be prevented. Granted, people don't always have the means to maintain a family. But that is why God gave us reason and conscience. We can prepare for a family by first getting an education, a stable good paying job, a savings account, and maturity. Using pills, condoms and what not just opens the door to problems.
Having a child becomes a choice only for the woman instead of the couple. How can love thrive in a dictatorship? Children become a "commodity" - an "accessory" - instead of a blessing from God conceived in the love shared between a married man and woman.
Contraception causes harm to women such as blood clots, bleeding, nausea, hormonal imbalances, cancer, fertility problems and so on. Now some may say, "you are a man, who are you to tell a woman how to run her body" well true, I am and man; however, where is it written that men are to be heartless and let women or other men hurt themselves?
If your relative or friend, an acquaintance or stranger is about to drink poison, will you let them?
Why would a rational woman choose Contraception with all its dangers in place of just saying no to a sexual encounter? This decision is safer and makes more sense. It shows self mastery and maturity.
Unfortunately, not all Catholics are informed on the teachings of the Church regarding Contraception. Bishops and priests must work harder to educate the faithful on it and how it harms women, men, couples and society. A good place to start is by reading Pope Paul VI's prophetic encyclical Humanae Vitae . He got it right. Everything he said would happen is happening now!
I do hope more Bishops do listen to the Laity and see where they stand so they can in turn reply with pastoral concern and proper catechesis.
Polls claim that 90% of Catholics use Contraception. My questions are: Who has the time to interview every Catholic? What pervert is watching Catholics have sex so as to be able to know whether or not Contraception is being used?
Sex is good, but so are children. Let's end this Anti-Life rhetoric.

Condoms For 12-Year-Olds
Once again a policy is being pushed to distribute condoms to minors. This is indeed unfortunate. It shows how little some think of our young people. To them, our youth are sexually frustrated animals who will succumb to lust and do whatever.
This is sad indeed for I know very well being young myself and working with youth that if young people are directed properly they will avoid making any mistake-sexual or non-sexual.
Condoms do not help anyone but its producers. STD infection and pregnancies are on the rise according to the CDC. See my previous blog post for more info: http://sacerdotvs.blogspot.com/2011/11/let-kids-be-kids.html
I hope parents protest this policy in Massachusetts.

Tax Payers Have to Pay for College Promiscuity??
Sandra Fluke, a student at Georgetown recently went before a House Democratic committee to voice her concerns regarding Contraception coverage. She claimed that it costs over $3,000 a year for women to have sex. She wants tax payers to support women who go to college by paying for their contraception use.
When I saw her on the news at the hearing, the first thing that came to mind was, "this lady is crazy... how can she expect American taxpayers to pay for students to have sex?" The audacity that this lady has to request money to have sex is beyond absurd.
This of course reached the ears of Conservative pundit Rush Limbaugh who went on air mocking this student and called her a "slut." He is facing backlash because of this comment. I am not condoning what he said, but I can see where he is coming from.
Sandra Fluke is presenting the college woman as an uncontrollable nymphomaniac. She is doing a disservice to women. Who has so much sex that he/she racks up a $3,000 a year contraception bill??
This of course is just a push for contraception to be paid for by taxpayers. It is part of the Radical Feminist agenda which seeks to have everyone swallow their irrational views on sexuality.
Ironically, Sandra Fluke holds degrees in Feminist studies and sexuality. This speaks volumes of her mental schema.
I am against Contraception. I think it degrades people and takes away from the beauty of procreation. It is "me" centered. It closes the door to life in place of sexual pleasure. However, I understand not everyone will agree with me. Nevertheless, no one should have to pay for the sex lives of another.
Feminists often cry out the fallacious term "bodily autonomy" and in reply I shout, "wallet autonomy!"
To Sandra Fluke and other Feminists, Be responsible for YOUR own decisions. DO NOT rob us of our tax dollars to "fix" your sexual urges.

Let Kids Be Kids!
Sex education has been a heavy topic to discuss after the disgusting curriculum about to be implemented in NYC public schools. Some claim that it is important for kids to know about condoms, sex, diseases, abortion and pregnancy.
"They are going to do it" say those under the so-called Liberal and Progressive banners. They completely ignore the facts. The CDC or Center for Disease Control has recently released data showing that condoms and birth control are not decreasing the spread of STD's and teen pregnancy.
This report just came out in October 2011 and is entitled, "National Survey of Family Growth," (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_23/sr23_031.pdf)
The survey shows an increase of STD infection and no affect whatsoever on avoiding teen pregnancy.
Abroad in Spain, the University of Navarre found that the majority of Spanish teens are not sexually active. This speaks volumes in a nation that is succumbing to the ignorance of secularism which promotes promiscuity and other immoral behavior. (http://www.unav.es/english/)
Moreover, teens are choosing abstinence. A study by the CDC has found that abstinence is on the rise in the United States of America despite the push for condoms and so called "safe sex" practice. (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr036.pdf) The CDC also shows that more teens are virgins and that the trend to remain as such is high. (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_23/sr23_030.pdf)
The data is there: "Safe sex" as predicted is a BIG FAILURE and waste of money.
Please let kids be kids. Let them enjoy sports, school, toys, art, video games, music, shopping and things kids like to do. Those who call themselves Liberal and Progressive need to keep their sexual frustrations to themselves and not project it on minors. You are destroying our young people! Stop it!
I wonder if this "safe sex" campaign is an attempt by pedophiles to overly sexualize the youth so they can be more susceptible to bait for sex? hmmm...

Adding gas to the flame...
NYC's Public schools are now adding a very aggressive "sex ed" curriculum. This curriculum has come under fire after parents and other groups were informed of the content.
Students as young as 11 yrs of age (possibly younger) will be learning about how to have sex, oral/anal sex - even if a child has braces; how to masturbate, mutual masturbation, about bestiality, porn stars, vibrators, phone sex, fetishes, french kissing, sadomasochism, the list goes on and on.
There are even activities such as going to a store and writing down the names of condom distributors, visiting clinics that provide abortion, birth control and STD testing (Planned Parenthood of course).
This is just sickening. Why did we let society collapse to this all time low? These are children we are talking about!
What is NYC and the public school system thinking? Are they even thinking!?!
This curriculum will add gas to the flame in young people's bodies; the flame that is naturally triggered by puberty and hormonal changes. By presenting this disgusting material to kids, the promoters are encouraging promiscuity and licentiousness.
Kids struggle as is with new feelings and attraction to the opposite sex, even same sex ones during puberty. This curriculum will add to this struggle and give the ok for kids to go against reason and act on instinct alone.
Parents are the primary educators of children, and in regards to sexuality, this discussion should be done among the family. Parents should be the ones to teach their children about sex, marriage, love. Older siblings can also contribute since they too went through/or are going through puberty and are aware of the struggles.
Parents are the ones who teach their children how to speak, behave, eat, use the potty, dress themselves, bathe themselves, so it is logical that parents should teach their children about sex and no one else. A stranger should not be the one educating children about sex and sexuality. This is a private matter and should be done solely by parents.
This program will corrupt our youth who already face the temptations of sex through movies, music, and other media which uses sex to sell things.
Do we really need/want, 11 yr olds, 15 yr olds, 17 yr olds out there experimenting with sex and other perverted things?
They should be in libraries studying, in after school programs, or sports programs. The money for this program could be used to fund education related things, not attempts to socially engineer the youth to become promiscuous irresponsible people.
This program is destructive to the youth and must be ended immediately!

Sexual education classes at NYC public high schools and middle schools might feature some usually unmentioned lessons next year.
Among those lessons? Bestiality, anal sex, oral, sex, phone sex, porn and more, WSBT reports.
According to the report, the Department of Education has recommended students learn "everything there is to know about sex" in the new curriculum.
The New York Post reviewed the potential workbooks and posted a list of some of the lesson assignments:
- High-school students go to stores and jot down condom brands, prices and features such as lubrication.
- Teens research a route from school to a clinic that provides birth control and STD tests, and write down its confidentiality policy.
- Kids ages 11 and 12 sort “risk cards” to rate the safety of various activities, including “intercourse using a condom and an oil-based lubricant,’’ mutual masturbation, French kissing, oral sex and anal sex.
- Teens are referred to resources such as Columbia University’s Web site Go Ask Alice, which explores topics like “doggie-style” and other positions, “sadomasochistic sex play,” phone sex, oral sex with braces, fetishes, porn stars, vibrators and bestiality.
This comes after Deputy Mayor Linda Gibbs commended the DOE in August for giving students the necessary information about sexual activity, and what choices are available to them, NBC New York reported.
Lesson plans will also talk about french kissing, condoms and lubricants, and mutual masturbation.
While some parents worry that the curriculum could make some sexual activities seem appealing, one New York City father told WSBT that he doesn't see a problem with it.
"I think it's a good idea," he told the station. "They're going to have sex. They know it exists. Teaching them about it in my mind doesn't sanction it or encourage it."
The new lessons could make their way into classrooms as soon as this spring, as well as a free condom program at every NYC public school, as sex education is becoming more commonplace in schools -- and among younger students. D.C. Public Schools announced last month, in a move that's the first of its kind in the country, that students in grades 5, 8 and 10 will be administered standardized tests on sexuality, contraception and drug use.
