Atheist Vandalizes NJ Catholic Parish

In a world where atheists are getting more empowered via anonymous online accounts, we are starting to see them become more active in public.

Just last week, an atheist attacked a Baptist community in Texas killing 27, many of them children.  Days before, an atheist vandalized a Catholic Church in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey.  The parish of the Precious Blood has been targeted by an atheist for the past several months.

In a recent attack, a window was broken, a statue damaged, fecal matter left on the stairway and a marker was used to write "God is FAKE" on the exterior steps of the parish building.

Parishioners are concerned that this is going on. Their worries are even more validated after the attack on the Baptist community by atheist Devin Kelley. All Catholics must be on the lookout in their respective parishes for these demented souls looking to publicly display their diatribe against God and religion in any form.

If you live in Monmouth Beach, NJ and know anything, please contact detective Peter Rechtman at 732-229-1313 or at prechtman@monmouthbeach.org.

We must get this lunatic off of the street and in jail, so he or she can get the help he or she needs.

Manhunt for Ahmad Khan Rahami

The NYPD and FBI have just announced that they are looking for Ahmad Khan Rahami who is believed to be connected to the bombings in Chelsea in Manhattan as well as in New Jersey. Rahami is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, contact the authorities at 911 or 1-800-557-TIPS.  Do not engage the suspect! I will update this post as I learn more.  STAY TUNED!

UPDATE:   Ahmad Khan Rahami was just apprehended by Elizabeth police in New Jersey.  He was spotted sleeping at the entrance of a bar. The bar owner found him and recognized him. He immediately notified the police.  Police officers arrived and got into a shootout with Rahami injuring him in the leg and possibly the shoulder. The officers involved suffered injuries, but will be okay. Rahami was seen on surveillance video carrying rolling carry-on and duffel bag. He is seen leaving the pressure cookers on the scene of the explosion in Chelsea.  Let us thank God for our brave police officers and FBI agents.

Priest Slapping Children

There is a video being posted on Facebook and other social media which shows what looks like a Catholic priest in green ordinary time vestments slapping kids upside the head, pulling their hair and even kicking them.  The video is extremely disturbing and even has the 'Friendly Atheist' scratching his head.

Before Vatican II, the rite of Confirmation was administered with a slight tap on the face of the confirmandi. However, this was abolished.  What this priest is doing in this video is disgusting.  This is not a rite of the Catholic Church!  It is child abuse.  If anyone recognizes this priest (if he really is a Catholic priest), please contact the police and the local bishop.  This man needs to be arrested for child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.  He is clearly mentally ill.

Cops Killed in Mississippi

Last week on Mother's day, officers Benjamine Deen, 34 and Liquori Tate, 24 were making a routine traffic stop when they were shot and killed. The perpetrators then fled the scene, stealing the police cruiser.  They were eventually caught.  This occurred just days after the funeral of NYPD officer Brian Moore.

I am concerned that there will be an open "hunting season" on cops due to the recent events regarding police shootings which have caused tension in minority communities.  We need to pray for police officers and make sure governments and municipalities give them the equipment and training necessary to keep them safe. As a Church, we must do our part in instilling morals in people so that crime will go down and hopefully vanish.

NYPD Officer Brian Moore Shot & Passes Away

Yet another tragedy has befallen on the NYPD.  Brian Moore, 25 of the 105th Precinct was shot in the face as he exited his patrol car.  He and his partner observed Demetrius Blackwell known on the street as "hellraiser" fidgeting with his waistband which is a move that often indicates someone has a gun.

Unfortunately, in this case, the suspicious was correct.  Blackwell took out a silver .38-caliber Taurus Model 85 revolver and shot at the officers hitting Moore in the face.  He then cowardly ran off hiding the revolver in a box near a barbecue grill.

Sadly, Moore succumbed to his injuries Monday May 5th and is being mourned by the "Blue NYPD Family." He is the third cop killed in the line of duty and the fifth shot at within several months.

See:

http://www.sacerdotus.com/2015/01/nypd-officers-shot-in-bronx.html

His assassin had a previous rap sheet and is an ex-con. He will now be facing many new charged including the murder of a police officer. The courtroom was full of NYPD officers as he was arraigned.

Mayor Di Blasio visited him shortly after Moore was shot but did not visit upon the death of the officer.  It is believed that he wanted to avoid the "back turning" episodes that took place during the funerals of Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

It is a sad day for the NYPD and New York City. Are we now entering a period where police officers are going to be gunned down?  It is a scary thought.  Let us pray for all officers nationwide and for the repose of the soul of P.O. Brian Moore, as well as for his loved ones that the Lord console them.

Eternal rest grant to Brian Moore and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace!

Baltimore Riots

Shortly after the funeral Freddie Gray who died while in police custody, all hell broke out in Baltimore. The police were even attacked.  Some news sources are claiming that the police even threw bricks at teenagers protesting.

Buildings, cars and other property were set on fire and several police officers and even journalists were hurt badly. Many businesses were even looting.  It seemed like a repeat of the Furguson riots during the fall when a jury exonerated former police officer Darren Wilson of charges against him.

Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan had to declare a state of emergency and brought in the National Guard to help restore order. Things seem to not have calmed down and may get worse.  Baltimore is much larger than Furguson and due to the funeral, many outsiders have come in among them, instigators.  Schools, business and other events were cancelled including the Baltimore Orioles baseball game.

Jersey Police Shooting

Back in December of 2014, Jerame C. Reid who was 36 years old was killed by police after being pulled over with another passenger.  There is a dashboard video of the stop. Police officers from Bridgeton, New Jersey followed a Jaguar vehicle which has passed a stop sign.  The vehicle was ordered to pull over.  Immediately the police officers went to investigate. One of the officers is seen shouting that there is a gun. The officer seems to know the man in the passenger side since he calls him by name and apparently had arrested him before.  During the encounter, the officer tells Reid not to move.  Reid continues to move despite the officer telling him not to and to show his heads. The officer warnings him not to move or he will kill him. Despite the warnings, Reid exits the vehicle with hands up and is gunned down by the police officer.

The debate is now ongoing with some saying the shooting was justified, while others state that it was not.  I have seen the video several times and have mixed feelings.  Reid should not have moved or come out of the car. When an officer gives someone instructions, it is important that he/she follows them. However, the officer who shot Reid seemed a bit paranoid and emotional. He was shouting hysterically even as Reid came out of the car with his hands up. I would have to see more evidence before I comment further.

Detective Wenjian Liu's Funeral

NYPD Detective Wenjian Liu had his funeral today after 2 weeks. Tens of thousands of people showed up, mostly police officers from all throughout the United States and Canada.  Most of them were able to come thanks to Jet Blue who offered free flights to officers wishing to attending.  They did the same for Detective Ramos' funeral as well.

The funeral was simple and had a Buddhist ceremony.  The director of the FBI, Mayor Di Blasio, Commissioner Bratton as well as relatives of Liu spoke at the ceremony held at the funeral home.  They recalled the heroic and moral life of Liu who joined the NYPD after the September 11 attacks in New York City. An accountant by training, Liu felt compelled to join the Blue Force after watching the city that adopted him be attacked by deranged terrorists.

Di Blasio described how Detective Liu went beyond the call of duty by showing his concern and respect for the elderly even to the point of staying with one to give him company after a call came in regarding an elderly man.  Liu's widow and father also spoke and were visibly emotional. Unfortunately, some police officers tarnsihed the ceremony by turning their backs at Di Blasio as he spoke despite Commissioner Bratton calling on officers in a memo not to do so.  He said, “a hero’s funeral is about grieving, not grievance.”

May Detective Wenjian Liu rest in peace and may God bless his relatives and friends who are suffering his loss.

Officers Down! 10-13

Officers Ramos and Liu

One of my fears just came true after hearing some protesters demanding cops be killed and having cops as friends.  Two police officers were killed in cold blood on Myrtle and Tompkins Aves in Brooklyn by a deranged man, Ismaaiyl Brinsley from Georgia who first shot his ex-girlfriend in Baltimore and then headed to New York City.  He posted on Instagram that he was going to "give wings to two pigs" using hashtags encouraging to shoot or kill cops.  He wrote:

“I’m Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours...Let’s Take 2 of Theirs, This May Be My Final Post...I’m Putting Pigs In A Blanket.
#ShootThePolice #RIPErivGarner #RIPMike Brown.”

Police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu had no chance to draw their weapons.  They probably didn't even see Brinsley coming as they sat in their patrol car.  He aimed at their heads with a silver gun which he posted an image of along with the words above on Instagram.  Commissioner Bratton looked visibly emotional, eyes watery.  Mayor Diblasio as well looked emotional.

Police officer Liu was a newly wed and Police Ramos turned 40 on December 12 and has a 13 year old son who still did not process what happened to his beloved dad.  The whole thing is just heart breaking.  The attack was apparently done in retaliation for Michael Brown and Eric Garner based on the Instagram posts.  Brinsley ran to a crowded subway platform where he shot himself in the head.

I will update this as I learn more.  It is a sad day.

UPDATE: 12/21/14
According to news reports, Brinsley had a troubled past being arrested numerous times and a record for gun possession.  He had broken into his ex girlfriend's apartment and shot her after attempting to commit suicide.  His ex girlfriend had tried to stop him, but he shot her instead of himself.  Then he called her mom and said he shot her accidentally.  It is believed that he used her cell phone to do so.  Next he would board a bus from Baltimore to New York City.  While in New York, he approached some gang members and asked their affiliation.  He then told them to add him to their Instagram accounts because he was going to do something big and then discarded the phone at the Barcalay's Center. After this, he walked by the patrol car where both officers Ramos and Liu were eating lunch. He came by the passenger side and shot them both in the head execution style.  They did not have any time to react at all.  After the assassination, a postal worker followed Brinsley in his truck and when he saw police officers, he notified them.  They then went after Brinsley who ran into a subway station where he shot himself in the head.

Some people reported that a group of hecklers were applauding at the death of the officers and shouted at police officers present, "good for you."  I have not confirmed this, but it is going around on the internet. A makeshift memorial was created near the scene and keeps growing with flowers, candles and other items.  Prayers were held Sunday evening for the officers and their relatives.  The cousin of Police Officer Ramos seemed to show pity for the coward who took his relative's life.  He said that "we forgive you" and that Brinsley was a troubled man.  This forgiveness is an awesome display of Christianity.  Police Officer Ramos' Facebook lists him as studying at an Evangelical Seminary.  Perhaps he may have been a minister as well in the Evangelical sect. (UPDATE 12/22/14: He was studying to be a chaplain) His Facebook ironically had as his last post a blue imagine which is used when police mourn for their fallen brothers.  This is dated December 18.  Other images on his profile had badges of fallen officers and Biblical or religious messages.

This news has touched everyone.  The New York Yankees are even offering to pay for the education of Ramos' kids.  However as usual, some one always has to take this tragedy and make it into a political game.  PBA president Lynch and conservative political pundits are accusing DiBlasio, Sharpton and protesters of being accomplices of this double cop murder.

Ferguson Decision - Darren Wilson Not Indicted

As expected, officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for the death of 18 year old Michael Brown.  After evidence was presented such as the presence of blood from Michael Brown found in the patrol car as well as the conflicting witness reports, it was pretty much set in stone that Wilson would not be charged.

Since 11 AM, news of a decision was presented on the news but Ferguson officials decided to wait until late at night reveal the decision. Many criticized this move because it would lead to bigger crowds and possibly more rioting and civil disorder as seen back in August.

See: http://www.sacerdotus.com/2014/08/ferguson-mi-riots.html
http://www.sacerdotus.com/2014/08/michael-brown-ferguson-mi.html
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sacerdotus/2014/09/08/michael-brown

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch who was originally asked to step aside from the case gave the decision.  Many in Ferguson believed that McCulloch would be biased because he has family in the police department. Moreover, his arguments to the grand jury seemed to have been worded to make the case for Wilson, some are criticizing now. However, McCulloch emphasized that the witness reports given were faulty. They were contradictory and some witnesses even recanted stating that they heard the story from other sources and were not there themselves during the shooting. According to McCulloch, no probable cause was found to indict Wilson.

Wilson in the days leading to the decision was working out the details with the police department regarding his resignation. This made some wonder if he was resigning because he was going to be exonerated.  That speculation turned out to be true. Shortly after the decision, the crowds that had gathered were in a state of shock.  Then when reality sunk in, things were thrown at police in riot gear. A police car was vandalized, and then a few others were set on fire. Police retaliated by shooting gas and bean bags at the crowds. This angered them more and stores were broken into and looted. Several of them were even set on fire and are still on fire.  Firefighters who tried to turn off the flames fled after gunfire was directed at them. Even private vehicles are being set on fire at a car dealership.  Social media calls from religious leaders and others went on deaf ears.  Many clergy were also not present.

Furthermore, the protests were not only in Ferguson but all over the United States. In New York City, thousands took to Union Square and walked to Times Square. Commissioner Bratton was even attacked with fake blood that was thrown at his face. Another Caucasian dressed in business attired was hit with something that caused a massive gash on his forehead. In Washington DC, President Obama spoke at 10 PM and urged all to remain calm. Ironically, as he said this, the protesters without viewing him on a monitor, got even more violent. In one instance, Obama said that throwing bottles does noting to help the situation and people began throwing bottles almost at the same time that he said it. CNN and other media at the scene were gassed by police and attacked by protesters. Bottles and trash were thrown at them. One reported even got him on the head with a rock while live on TV! A police officer has been shot as well.

Ferguson is burning and the people are obviously making the nation known that they are angry. Wilson thanked his supporters and conservatives such as Coulter celebrated his exoneration which caused more anger. Minorities are crying foul at the decision believing it to be evidence that Black lives do not matter and that law enforcers will always win.

The evidence used during the deliberations was released, see: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2014/11/us/ferguson-grand-jury-docs/index.html.  Images of Officer Wilson were also released where he claims to have been hit on the face by Brown. His testimony also states that Brown looked like a raging demon and he felt like a kid wresting Hulk Hogan due to the size of Michael Brown.
