Pope Francis is under fire again after reports surfaced that he is getting lenient with pederast priests. According to several media outlets, the pope has reduced punished for pedophile priests in an attempt to impose his idea of mercy on them. Survivors of sexual abuse and the pope's own advisers are questioning his views, according to the reports.
One priest named Mauro Inzoli had received clemency from the pope, but was convicted by an Italian court. He abused children as young as twelve. The pope sentenced him to a life of prayer, took away his faculties and ordered him to stay away from children and get psychotherapy for five years. However, an Italian court sentence him to four years in prison.
Pope Francis seems to want to keep priests convicted of sex abuse within control of the Church by not defrocking them. By not defrocking them, the Church will have control of these men as opposed to letting them out into society where no one is monitoring them. There is much division on the topic, even among Catholics. On one hand, people seek justice against priests who abused minors. However, on the other hand, the Catholic Church has an obligation to preach and put the practice mercy. The solution is not easy. How do we balance mercy with justice? What do you think?

Priest Slapping Children
There is a video being posted on Facebook and other social media which shows what looks like a Catholic priest in green ordinary time vestments slapping kids upside the head, pulling their hair and even kicking them. The video is extremely disturbing and even has the 'Friendly Atheist' scratching his head.
Before Vatican II, the rite of Confirmation was administered with a slight tap on the face of the confirmandi. However, this was abolished. What this priest is doing in this video is disgusting. This is not a rite of the Catholic Church! It is child abuse. If anyone recognizes this priest (if he really is a Catholic priest), please contact the police and the local bishop. This man needs to be arrested for child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He is clearly mentally ill.

Pope: 2% Clergy are Pedophiles
I am not sure what to make of this because according to Fr. Lombardi, spokesman for the Vatican, he said that the interview was not an interview, but a conversation. Lombardi also added that this "interview" that's not an interview was not recorded basically alluding that Scalfari may have given his own spin on the Pope's words. This may be the case and is not the first time the media has taken the Popes words out of context.
The news has been trending around the internet, especially among atheists who claim to want to rid the world or religion, but always are the first to know what's going on in the world of religion; sometimes before religious people including yours truly!
I will update this blog post if necessary if/when anymore information comes out.

Pope Meets Victims
"Before God and his people, I express my sorrow for the sins and grave crimes of clerical sexual abuse committed against you. And I humbly ask forgiveness, the sexual abuse of minors by priests and other men of the cloth required the church to "make reparation."
This is not the first time a Pope has met with victims of sex abuse. Saint John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI have met with them in the past. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI took on the scandals head on by removing priests and bishops. Our current Pontiff is continuing to clean up the Church of this filth.
However, groups such as "SNAP are not content with today's meeting. They seem to think that the Pope has power to arrest and prosecute people as secular governments do. The Church can only defrock clerics, they cannot arrest anyone. Moreover, if civil authorities cannot prosecute these defrocked clerics, then the problem lies with local laws, not the Church. More needs to be done to either extent statutes of limitations or remove them completely.
In my opinion, more needs to be done to address this scandal. Meetings with victims, drafting charters are not enough. The Vatican must go after those bishops and heads of religious provinces who transferred abusive priests around knowing they were problematic. As long as these "leaders" remain in power or in good standing, then any attempt to remedy the scandals via meetings and what not will be seen as "show."
Here is the full text of the Pope's words today:
HOLY MASS IN THE CHAPEL OF THE DOMUS SANCTAE MARTHAE
WITH A GROUP OF CLERGY SEX ABUSE VICTIMS
HOMILY OF POPE FRANCIS
Monday, 7 July 2014
The scene where Peter sees Jesus emerge after a terrible interrogation… Peter whose eyes meet the gaze of Jesus and weeps… This scene comes to my mind as I look at you, and think of so many men and women, boys and girls. I feel the gaze of Jesus and I ask for the grace to weep, the grace for the Church to weep and make reparation for her sons and daughters who betrayed their mission, who abused innocent persons. Today, I am very grateful to you for having travelled so far to come here.
For some time now I have felt in my heart deep pain and suffering. So much time hidden, camouflaged with a complicity that cannot be explained until someone realized that Jesus was looking and others the same… and they set about to sustain that gaze.
And those few who began to weep have touched our conscience for this crime and grave sin. This is what causes me distress and pain at the fact that some priests and bishops, by sexually abusing minors, violated their innocence and their own priestly vocation. It is something more than despicable actions. It is like a sacrilegious cult, because these boys and girls had been entrusted to the priestly charism in order to be brought to God. And those people sacrificed them to the idol of their own concupiscence. They profane the very image of God in whose likeness we were created. Childhood, as we all know, young hearts, so open and trusting, have their own way of understanding the mysteries of God’s love and are eager to grow in the faith. Today the heart of the Church looks into the eyes of Jesus in these boys and girls and wants to weep; she asks the grace to weep before the execrable acts of abuse which have left life long scars.
I know that these wounds are a source of deep and often unrelenting emotional and spiritual pain, and even despair. Many of those who have suffered in this way have also sought relief in the path of addiction. Others have experienced difficulties in significant relationships, with parents, spouses and children. Suffering in families has been especially grave, since the damage provoked by abuse affects these vital family relationships.
Some have even had to deal with the terrible tragedy of the death of a loved one by suicide. The deaths of these so beloved children of God weigh upon the heart and my conscience and that of the whole Church. To these families I express my heartfelt love and sorrow. Jesus, tortured and interrogated with passionate hatred, is taken to another place and he looks out. He looks out upon one of his own torturers, the one who denied him, and he makes him weep. Let us implore this grace together with that of making amends.
Sins of clerical sexual abuse against minors have a toxic effect on faith and hope in God. Some of you have held fast to faith, while for others the experience of betrayal and abandonment has led to a weakening of faith in God. Your presence here speaks of the miracle of hope, which prevails against the deepest darkness. Surely it is a sign of God’s mercy that today we have this opportunity to encounter one another, to adore God, to look in one another’s eyes and seek the grace of reconciliation.
Before God and his people I express my sorrow for the sins and grave crimes of clerical sexual abuse committed against you. And I humbly ask forgiveness.
I beg your forgiveness, too, for the sins of omission on the part of Church leaders who did not respond adequately to reports of abuse made by family members, as well as by abuse victims themselves. This led to even greater suffering on the part of those who were abused and it endangered other minors who were at risk.
On the other hand, the courage that you and others have shown by speaking up, by telling the truth, was a service of love, since for us it shed light on a terrible darkness in the life of the Church. There is no place in the Church’s ministry for those who commit these abuses, and I commit myself not to tolerate harm done to a minor by any individual, whether a cleric or not. All bishops must carry out their pastoral ministry with the utmost care in order to help foster the protection of minors, and they will be held accountable.
What Jesus says about those who cause scandal applies to all of us: the millstone and the sea (cf. Mt 18:6).
By the same token we will continue to exercise vigilance in priestly formation. I am counting on the members of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, all minors, whatever religion they belong to, they are little flowers which God looks lovingly upon.
I ask this support so as to help me ensure that we develop better policies and procedures in the universal Church for the protection of minors and for the training of church personnel in implementing those policies and procedures. We need to do everything in our power to ensure that these sins have no place in the Church.
Dear brothers and sisters, because we are all members of God’s family, we are called to live lives shaped by mercy. The Lord Jesus, our Savior, is the supreme example of this; though innocent, he took our sins upon himself on the cross. To be reconciled is the very essence of our shared identity as followers of Jesus Christ. By turning back to him, accompanied by our most holy Mother, who stood sorrowing at the foot of the cross, let us seek the grace of reconciliation with the entire people of God. The loving intercession of Our Lady of Tender Mercy is an unfailing source of help in the process of our healing.
You and all those who were abused by clergy are loved by God. I pray that the remnants of the darkness which touched you may be healed by the embrace of the Child Jesus and that the harm which was done to you will give way to renewed faith and joy.
I am grateful for this meeting. And please pray for me, so that the eyes of my heart will always clearly see the path of merciful love, and that God will grant me the courage to persevere on this path for the good of all children and young people. Jesus comes forth from an unjust trial, from a cruel interrogation and he looks in the eyes of Peter, and Peter weeps. We ask that he look at us and that we allow ourselves to be looked upon and to weep and that he give us the grace to be ashamed, so that, like Peter, forty days later, we can reply: “You know that I love you”; and hear him say: “go back and feed my sheep” – and I would add – “let no wolf enter the sheepfold”.

Pope Benedict XVI Defrocked 400 Priests
Unfortunately, the media under reports the work of our former Pontiff who as Cardinal was aware of the problem and worked hard to address them as the law and his role in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith allowed him to. Since 2001, the Vatican ordered that credible cases be reported to them directly.
Ratzinger wasted no time in realizing that bishops were not following church law in making use of tribunals. He pushed cases forward and made sure that they were placed on trial. From 2005-2012, the number of canonical trials increased dramatically showing that Benedict XVI was serious about "cleaning the filth" in the Church as he described it.

Atheist Dawkins Pro-Pedophilia
Atheist Richard Dawkins is at it again with his foot-in-mouth antics. He recently revealed that he was molested as a child at a boarding school by one of the masters. Dawkins, 72 then went on to basically excuse the behavior and claim that it was just 'mild' and that such behavior has no 'lasting effect.'
He said that the master, "pulled me on his knee and put his hand inside my shorts." This of course is a crime and is immoral. Dawkins then says other children in his boarding school were molested as well and ended by saying, "I don't think he did any of us lasting harm."
Seriously Richard??
Whether the action of a pedophile is putting a hand in a boy's shorts or even looking at a boy with lust; that has a lasting effect. It creates a hostile environment where often the child feels ashamed and worthless. This does create a lasting effect. There is no such thing as 'mild pedophilia' or abuse.
Pedophilia and abuse do not have to be physical. According to the APA, they can also include: noncontact abuse, such as exposure, voyeurism, and child pornography. Abuse by peers also occurs. Children who are abused will develop all kinds of behavior problems as they maturate. The APA lists some of these as: regressive behaviors (such as a return to thumb-sucking or bed-wetting), sleep disturbances, eating problems, behavior and/or performance problems at school, and nonparticipation in school and social activities. Children who were abused will also have problems when they reach adulthood. Adults who were abused at an early age often develop depression, anxiety, panic attacks, extreme anger, self hate, have trouble with relationships, and other issues.
This is far from being 'mild' and the effects are not 'mild' at all. They are indeed lasting and serious. It is no wonder why many groups and organizations that help those abused are extremely upset and disgusted at Dawkins' remarks. His callous, nonchalant and indifferent take on pedophilia and molestation are obviously one of the effects of his molestation as a child. Moreover, his anger, hatred towards God and religion which are ideas associated with love, protection and charity show that he is hurting deep inside. He is wondering why God didn't protect him. This is typical of those who were abused. Many atheists became atheist because of abuse or because they felt alienated and then put the blame on God. (Exline, Park, Smyth, and Carey, 2010)
Dawkins' erratic public behavior and incoherent thinking are a sign that his abuse has taken toll of him even at age 72. His jabs against faith are his attempt to vent against the pain and hurt he is feeling. They give him a sense of importance and power. Other atheists are quick to follow him because they too are hurting and find the same pseudo-comfort that Dawkins finds in his attack against faith. Atheism then becomes a psychological defense mechanism attempting to regulate mental health by channeling angry sentiments against God and faith.
Some atheists on twitter, including the "friendly atheist" were quick to defend Dawkins which is scary. How can anyone defend a guy who considers molestation to be 'mild' and not having any lasting consequences? What is wrong with you people?
You will never see me defend a priest who has been proven to have abused anyone, or a bishop who has been proven to have allowed the abuse. I would never do that.
Dawkins tries to backtrack in his explanation of the remarks here: http://www.richarddawkins.net/foundation_articles/2013/9/11/child-abuse-a-misunderstanding
He tries to shift the attention to Pope Benedict XVI, but really does not explain his previous remarks. Dawkins has yet to condemn his attacker's action and merely brushes it aside as, 'it just happened, so what.'
His words are clear and are extremely offensive. In the past, Dawkins has even tried to make the idea of Hell seem more abusive than child abuse itself! This guy is a train wreck.
Molestation and abuse are serious matters. They should not be brushed aside as 'mild' or insignificant even if the abuse took the form of a glance, light kiss, or pat on the buttock or other region. Human beings are creatures with intrinsic value. They must not become objects for another's enjoyment.
I am disgusted by Dawkins' comments and by those atheists who are defending him. Shame on Dawkins and his supports for indirectly advocating child molestation and abuse. In any even, this comes as no surprise because Gay activist and Atheist David Thorstad has been advocating for the legalization of pedophilia. He founded NAMBLA.
When one has no moral grounding and relies on atheistic relativism, any idea will pass through as 'normal.'

Catholicism Spring
Pope Francis is spring cleaning house! He is representing his new name well by the way he has been preaching the Gospel by example and directly engaging the Church's internal problems.
When Pope Francis was elected, immediately most Catholics knew that changes would be coming. His "style" and personality immediately caught the attention of the media and non-Catholics as well. Even atheists were happy with the "new guy."
Pope Francis refused to live in the Papal apartment and instead chose to stay at St. Martha residence citing that he wanted to be with the people and not isolated. Moreover, he celebrates Mass with the employees there and eats at the cafeteria with them.
He paid his hotel bill immediately after becoming Pope, and has made it a priority to not be treated like some celebrity. He is against the "personality cult."
Recently, he refused a concert in his honor and called his homeland's Cathedral requesting that a statue of him be removed. For Holy Thursday, he requested to go wash the feet of prisoners and last week invited 200 homeless people to dine at the Vatican. telling that that the Vatican was their home and they are welcome there. He even told priests to live in poverty and not own expensive cars or items!
Pope Francis is renewing the Church from within. He is engaging the corruption within the Curia, as well as the homosexual lobby that exists there. Today, he issued a Motu Propio amending the Vatican's laws. Penalties for crimes at the Vatican have been increased, and the laws have been updated.
This Motu Propio is significant because it shows that he is serious about combating child abuse, child pornography, and corruption in the Vatican and Catholic Church.
Credit must be given to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as well who initiated the clean up process. He even left a report for the next Pope to continue the work.
I am happy for our Holy Father and fully support him. Let us pray for him as he continues to clean up the Church and confront the challenges outside of her. Let us also join him in cleaning the Church.

Child Abuser Rosa Rubicondior
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Unfortunately, a deranged twitter user is abusing a child and must be stopped.
After atheist Rosa Rubicondior's embarrassing failure in debating me. Rosa has stooped to a low which demonstrates this individual's mental instability.
Rosa out of spite began to search the internet for my twitter and came across a profile of a young secondary school age kid named "Manuel." The kid happened to use the "chi rho" image as his avatar for whatever reason. I happened to use a similar image showing my faith in Christ and Rosa reasoned that this child was me.
Crazy right?
Rosa then proceeded to Google for "Manuel" and came across an article regarding an individual with the same name entering the Franciscans. Once again, Rosa reasoned that this person was me as well. Rosa then linked both sources and began to claim that these individuals were me.
Neither of these are me! I have never attended a seminary in New York State nor have belonged to a religious order. You can contact the schools and seminaries Rosa mentions and verify this for yourself.
I'm a grown adult and have had my share of insults directed at me; however, Rosa's abuse of this child has gone too far.
It is not right to pick a random kid off the internet, disparage, abuse him and post his information for all to see just because someone else got you mad.
It is also illegal. In today's cyber world where people use the internet to stalk others, it is illegal to post private information without consent; not only of an adult, but especially of minors.
In the United States, there have been many cases where others have posted the information of another out of spite. Take the case of this lady whose information was posted on craigslist. (http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2011/06/22/man-charged-with-posting-womans-info-on-craigslist/a6xxubs/)
There are also other cases similar to this one, even of an adult neighbor posting a girl's information on facebook. This lady was arrested and charged.
A simple Google search will bring up hundreds of cases where individuals were arrested and charged.
By posting Manuel's information online, Rosa Rubicondior is committing a crime and offense against a minor.
I invite you reading this to report Rosa Rubicondior to the authorities as a child abuser.
Please contact me and I will inform you as to how to go about making a report or see the image above.
Your report can be anonymous.
It is not fair that this child and his family have to go through these attacks from this child abuser.

Mahony - You Reap What You Sow

Recently, Cardinal Mahony set the media ablaze by posting a blog about humiliation and even insinuating that he is a scapegoat. In most cases, I would be attacking the media for distorting Catholicism; however, in this case I share their outrage.
Cardinal Mahony has no right to claim that he is a scapegoat. All the attacks and hate he has received comes from his lack of action in defending God's most presence human beings: minors. The arrogance to present yourself as a victim when you allowed priests to abuse minors and then tried everything possible to protect those perverts from the law is disgusting.
The Cardinal writes:
"I have tried to live out--poorly and inadequately far too often--his two implications of humiliation:
1. the acceptance of being scapegoated, pointing out the necessary connection between humiliation and redemption;
2. this scandal is putting us, the clergy and the church, where we belong--with the excluded ones; Jesus was painted with the same brush as the two thieves crucified with him." (Carrying a Scandal Biblically)
Scapegoated? Are you kidding me? Your eminence, you sowed the seeds that eventually grew into a tree with vines that is whipping and choking you. Moreover, to use the scandal and claim that it is a world against us thing is ludicrous. The world would exclude the Church in the spiritual sense because it believes differently than us, not because of crimes the world has every right to call attention to.
Those in the Catholic Church who aided and abetted the abuse of minors are not being hated because of the Catholic Faith. They are being hated because of their abuse of power, corruption and lack of action in defending the real victims, instead of the perpetrators of crime.
In his "Called to humiliation" post, he writes:
"To be honest with you, I have not reached the point where I can actually pray for more humiliation. I'm only at the stage of asking for the grace to endure the level of humiliation at the moment."
The humiliation is part of the package when you are expected to live up to Christian values and instead behave like a CEO covering up criminal activity. The outrage the people have is justified. As Catholics, we fight to protect the young, especially the unborn from abortion. Naturally, we will be upset if our own leaders are protecting perverts who infiltrated the seminary system and took advantage of innocent minors. It would be hypocritical to defend the unborn and turn a blind eye to the abuse of the born.

One of the most infamous ones is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels which has a statue of the Virgin Mary that looks more like a Pagan goddess, a Lesbian, or even desperate Irish singer Sinead o' Connor or the alien "Anna" from the 2009 remake of "V."
The cathedral itself looks like a hospital on the outside and inside looks like an Egyptian pyramid of some sort. It does not look like a Catholic building, in my opinion.
The structure of it does not set up the psyche for worship or contemplation. This cathedral was built in the spirit of "modernism" by using distorted interpretations of the Vatican II council documents. Furthermore, Cardinal Mahony had a huge fight with EWTN's Mother Angelica. Those of you who have watched Mother Angelica when she was live on air, or watch her reruns which were not edited know that Mother Angelica was no push over. She spoke her mind and spoke it loudly. She was not afraid to question the hierarchy, but without becoming a dissident like other religious sisters who feel it is a men vs women thing in regards to their role in the Catholic Church.
Cardinal Mahony wrote a Pastoral letter in 1997 regarding Sunday Mass which according to Angelica, reeked of modernism. Mother Angelica publicly called him out on it only to receive backlash from him. He demanded that she recant her opinion and even went to the Vatican to take canonical action against her. He cited Canon 753 and 1373 in his defense:
Can. 753 Whether they teach individually, or in Episcopal Conferences, or gathered together in particular councils, Bishops in communion with the head and the members of the College, while not infallible in their teaching, are the authentic instructors and teachers of the faith for Christ's faithful entrusted to their care. The faithful are bound to adhere, with a religious submission of mind, to this authentic magisterium of their Bishops.
Can. 1373 A person who publicly incites his or her subjects to hatred or animosity against the Apostolic See or the Ordinary because of some act of ecclesiastical authority or ministry, or who provokes the subjects to disobedience against them, is to be punished by interdict or other just penalties.
After much back and forth, Mother Angelica eventually apologized to Cardinal Mahony. Mahony took it to heart that a Franciscan Poor Clare questioned his teaching in his pastoral letter. Ironically, the Vatican did not answer his request to punish Mother Angelica and he refused to go on air to discuss it with Mother Angelica at the invitation of Bishop Tobin.
Can someone say EGO?
I think the Cardinal let the "Prince of the Church" title get to his head a bit. He is now claiming to be a scapegoat after documents show that he tried hard to obstruct justice in regards to perverted men who rose in the ranks of the priesthood.
*Cardinal Mahony, during this Lent you should meditate on this verse:
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." - Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived! You cannot live on Earth believing the anger expressed against you is part of Christian suffering. You legitimately did wrong by your own choice and are reaping what you sowed. There is no way around this. This is not a Cross Christ gave you. This is an anvil you threw in the air which now came crashing down on your head.
No one is persecuting you for your faith. They are angry at you because of your criminal actions that are not befitting of a Cardinal - Prince of the Church.
Take the hint: When your successor publicly admonishes you, then that means what you did is serious. Don't go and respond to your successor or write on your blog pretending to be the victim. It is an insult to all Catholics and non-Catholics.
My advice to Cardinal Mahony is to take a vow of silence. The more he speaks out, the more he adds to the fire. As a Spanish saying goes,
"En Boca Cerrada No Entran Moscas" (In a closed mouth, no flies enter.)
Or as President Lincoln said,
"Better to remain silent and be considered a fool, then to speak up and prove that you are a fool."
Show that you are humble by skipping the 2013 conclave. I think the world will relax its attack on you if you do this noble act.
P.S. I wonder if Cardinal Mahony will whine to Rome about me now? :-)

Church Hypocrisy?
Anti-Catholics often cite the bad behavior of Catholics in order to "prove" their case that the Catholic Church is a flawed institution that must be disposed of. They will cite the burning at the stakes, inquisition, abuse of minors, cover ups and so on. The Catholic Church to them is "morally bankrupt."
While the aforementioned are unfortunately a part of the history of Catholics, these acts were never sanctioned by the Church. They are shortcomings from individuals who represented the Church. Moreover, critics do not take into account the time and circumstance surrounding the bad events in the Church. Those (heretics) who broke laws in their respective time received the punishment of that time. We may see it now as cruel and unusual, but this is because we see things differently now in regards to justice and the treatment of prisoners.

The Past Haunts
In recent times, the sexual abuse of minors is what is focused upon when attacks against the Catholic Church are presented. The moral authority of bishops and priests are questioned since they seemed to have allowed these abuses to go on and in some cases even tried to cover them up. In the news recently, there was a report that files from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles show that retired Cardinal Roger Mahoney and Bishop Thomas Curry made attempts to conceal predator priests and obstruct justice.
The news has hit the Los Angeles Archdiocese so hard that Archbishop Gomez has prohibited Cardinal Mahoney from public duties within his Archdiocese and has accepted the resignation of Bishop Thomas Curry. This basically means that Mahoney cannot present himself as an official of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He can still function as a priest in private. I applaud Archbishop Gomez for doing this. He has publicly reprimanded two of his brother bishops and has shown that their actions cannot be excused. Cardinal Mahoney responded with a letter of his own excusing his "mistakes."
I hardly call transferring priests from parish to parish who were known to have psycho-sexual issues a "mistake." Furthermore, the attempt to prevent these disturbed priests from facing justice is just appalling. Clergy who are found guilty of abuse and those bishops and others who covered for them should be in prison. They should not be given a platform from which to shout "mea culpa." The sexual abuse of a minor - or anyone for that matter - is disgusting and victims may never recover from it.
Fetus Not a Person
If that is not bad enough, a Catholic hospital in Colorado is being sued because its lawyers have used the defense that a fetus is not a person in order to protect the hospital from litigation. The news has caused a tidal wave among Catholics and anti-Catholics. I myself have been bombarded with Tweets and messages regarding the supposed hypocrisy of the Church in implementing this defense. What these people do not understand is that the Catholic Church is not on trial here. A Catholic hospital is on trial for malpractice and its lawyers chose to use this defense. Lawyers have the reputation of being "certified liars." This is because they use a play of words in order to present a good case that will go in their favor.

The local bishop is investigating the matter. I believe the lawyers used this defense because it reflects the current understanding of the law. It would not be fair to sue a hospital for malpractice if the laws state that the fetus is not a person and fetuses are killed at abortion clinics daily without concern or litigation. Therefore, lawyers must use the laws in the books in order to make their case.
A case that comes to mind that reflects this is that of Mary Ellen Wilson's who was the first documented case of child abuse in the United States of America. She was beaten, starved and chained in a dark room all alone and overall was treated inhumanely. Neighbors were concerned over the welfare of young Mary Ellen, but to their dismay, the abuse was not illegal. Under the law, children were not considered persons and were mere property. They were no different than cattle or dogs and could be beaten and abused. The police could not do anything because there were no laws protecting children.
Neighbors told Methodist missionary Etta Wheeler about the situation and she tried to help. Wheeler did not give up despite the non-existence of child protection laws in New York. She would eventually contact the ASPCA or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which was founded by Henry Bergh in order to protect horses. At the time (1800's), New York used horses instead of cars. The modern car was just being developed and horses were the only means to travel or transport goods.
Horses can be very stubborn creatures, so they were often beaten severely and treated badly. The ASPCA would eventually get protection for them and other animals under the law. This is why Wheeler sought the help of Bergh. The ASPCA would help Mary Ellen Wilson and future children of child abuse by using the defense that children are part of the animal kingdom just like horses and they deserve protection under the law. This is an example of how the current law and understanding of the law must be used in order to defend a client.
****UPDATE 2/5/2013****
The lawyers for the hospital have decided to recant the defense tactic of citing a law that does not include the unborn as human. The change was made after Colorado bishops investigated and met with parties involved http://www.lifenews.com/2013/02/04/catholic-hospital-reverses-wont-argue-unborn-baby-not-a-person/
No Help for Rape Victim
Lastly, a victim of rape in Germany claims that a Catholic hospital turned her away because of the advice the hospital would have given regarding keeping the pregnancy. The Archdiocese of Cologne had this statement:
The Catholic Church is made up of human beings. The Church is perfect, but not perfect. She is perfect in that she is the Bride of Christ and holds the deposit of Faith. However, she is not perfect in that she is a collection of sinners who can do both good and bad in her name. If all the Apostles except John ran off after Jesus' arrest, what makes you think the disciples of today won't abandon Jesus? There will be clergy, religious and lay people who will abandon Jesus and do things their own way which will cause scandal and most likely harm themselves and others. This should not be seen as a reflection of the whole Catholic Church, but a reflection on the reality that individuals in the Church can do stupid things that offends God and one another.

Letter to UK Officials regarding Rubicondior
Below is the letter sent to the UK embassy in regards to the individual who goes under the parody alias "Rosa Rubicondior." The minor she abuses on her blog and twitter account finally saw my warnings and her tweets and took action. I have blocked the name out of respect for privacy.
_______________________________________________________________
British Consulate-General - New York
845 Third Avenue
New York, NY 10022
Dear sir/madam,
There is an individual who goes by the name "Rosa Rubicondior" who is
harassing and bullying me on blogger and Twitter. This individual is
disparaging and defaming me in an attempt to attack someone out of
mistaken identity. In this person's blog comments, the person posts my
name, school and defames me:
http://rosarubicondior.blogspot.com/2012/09/no-requiem-for-dead-gods.html
On twitter, a search for @rosarubicondior and ****** will show the tweet
messages in which she attacks and defames me. I do not know who this
person is.
Again, the person seems to be confusing me with another
person.
I am concerned. It is embarrassing having my family and friends inquire
as to why this individual is attacking me on the internet. Based on the
blog and twitter account, I understand this individual to reside in
England.
What can I do to report this individual in your nation? It is scary to
think that anyone can do this. I reported this to twitter and am waiting
for a response and will be making a report to the blogger site.
I am a very private person and do not appreciate my name and other
information which cannot be found in a search engine broadcast on social
sites in an attempt to defame me - and out of mistaken identity for that
matter.
Any information or action will be truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
****** ****** ******

Psuedo Christians Protect Child Abusers
It is sad that there are those who call themselves "christian," but aid and abet in the abuse of a child.
I have been drawing attention to @rosarubicondior's attack on a minor on her blog who she mistakenly thinks is me. It is unfair to this child and his family having his name and private information posted on a lunatic's blog and at the same time be defamed because he lives in the Bronx - the poorest county in America. @rosarubicondior 's derogatory and racist comments are uncalled for and is libelous.
What adds to this disturbing event is that earlier today a random individual @andrewwidener claiming to be "christian" spammed my mentions with pleads for me to stop exposing the child abuse @rosarubicondior is guilty of. I found this extremely strange - Jesus did say:
"But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones who believe in me, it were profitable for him that a great millstone had been hanged upon his neck and he be sunk in the depths of the sea." (Matthew 18:6)
I do not understand why this supposed "christian" would plead for me to stop bringing to attention the child abuse @rosarubicondior is committing on her blog against this minor from a high school. Is this what Jesus would do? Would Jesus protect a delusional atheist over the welfare of a child?
This "christian" is now attacking me and threatening me with lawyers. Really? Does he not know that adults have an OBLIGATION to report child abuse to authorities? By aiding and abetting @rosarubicondior and refusing to report the abuse, he is an accomplice to it by covering it up.
Tennessee law is clear on the matter: http://statelaws.findlaw.com/tennessee-law/tennessee-child-abuse-laws.html
Here is the exchange between us. I want it to be documented so his supposedly lawyers and the authorities I've contacted can see I am in the right:
@masonchain @msgrumpy /if u dont know how 2minister @sacerdotus please leave these people alone. U don't glorify god & r a insult to Christ
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain @msgrumpy @sacerdotus simply trying to get him to see he isn't doing what he should be Mason..that's all
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain @msgrumpy @sacerdotus his harassment is what bothers me Mason..I would like too see it stop. Would you?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus U R consumed with insulting atheists, not glorifying god & bringing them closer to Christ. Please stop, ur undoing all I've done
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus still at it huh? Way to glorify god and minister!....not
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus at least stop using the name of Jesus...you DO NOT serve him. You embody everything wrong with religion today.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus u know she is wrong and u should know ur wrong for keeping it going. I speak truth..no attacks.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus and how is a child being abused?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus answer my question..how is a child being abused?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus that's what I thought...you are not being directed by the Holy Spirit. Your direction is thru bitterness. U r not righteous..
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus answer my question dude..how is a child being abused?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus limits? Christ and the Holy Spirit have no limits..release ur bitterness. It doesn't glorify god.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus ummm..duhh..I'm directed by the Holy Spirit..you?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus what minor?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus well it sounds to me as if you should just drop it. She made an error as did you in dragging it out involving the minor more .
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus I'll look into it and do as I'm directed by the Holy Spirit. We are done..don't drag my name in your business as I am done here.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus dude...if a minor isn't being abused you need to look hard at yourself before you start comments like that..got it?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus whatever dude...that's not abuse. At most slander and you are a nut. If you slander MY name..you'll hear from my lawyer.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus document that..
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus and if you threaten me one more time with bogus legal action..I'm going to file suit..got it?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain @msgrumpy @sacerdotus @rosarubicondior now he's threatening me with legal action for not reporting child abuse? Who is this guy?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus provide all you want..you are wrong and will be eating the laws time..you are SO misguided its not even funny...it's sad.
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
He then begins to deny the abuse and begins to attack and threatened me. It is my suspicion that this individual is an atheist socketpuppet. Notice how he all of a sudden becomes friendly with @rosarubicondior and she again gives him the minor's name. It is another plot to further discredit me at the expense of this minor who she is identifying me with.
@masonchain @msgrumpy @sacerdotus @rosarubicondior I guess you are getting reported too huh mason? Lol..fundamentalist idiot
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain @msgrumpy @sacerdotus @rosarubicondior either that or mommy and daddy didn't pay enough attention..sick of people like him..
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@sacerdotus @rosarubicondior and now it's on...what's your name dude?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain tell him I provided links to all his blogs and user accounts as well. Did I tell you I have many lawyers in my family? A judge?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
Notice now how he is now siding with atheists. The same people who trash Christ and are aiding and abetting @rosarubicondior who is abusing a minor on her blog. He also slanders me. Is this a real Christian? You decide.
@masonchain I blocked him..he can't look at my tweets
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@gentley1300 @masonchain @msgrumpy @lib4evolution @sircraig01 he obviously doesn't know "bots" acct 4 >1000 visits a day on blogs & websites

— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain I don't know what to day other than I'm sorry and I hope they all see their hypocracy..I'm absolutely in awe by the stupidity
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain I must know that true disciples act and treat others as I do..right?
— Andrew (@AndrewWidener) September 26, 2012
@masonchain yeah...I'm truly saddened
