Racism is something we often think of existing in the past. It's 2012, we have a black President, many black people are in prominent positions in public and private life, things are different now.... RIGHT? Well, while those are true it is also true that racism still exists.
Students at a school in Baltimore are in a lot of trouble for drawing racist pictures on a board then taking photographs of them and sending them around on Twitter.
The principal of the school quickly called police and suspended the youths. The drawings show 3 nooses, figures that look like Ku Klux Klan members with burning crosses and a grave with the name Barack Obama.
I am all for freedom of speech and expression; however, this kind of expression and speech is uncalled for and disgusting. It is a reminder that our youth are vulnerable to hateful rhetoric. Parents must educated their children about tolerance and differences that exist among people. We all are created in God's image.
I am glad the school will be using this incident to educate on the matter.
