Joan Rivers dead at 81

The legendary female comedian, fashionista and talk show host Joan River has just passed away.  Rivers went to the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic to have a throat procedure labeled as minor and stopped breathing eventually going into cardiac arrest on August 28.  She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was in intensive care unit and then was placed in a coma.  She was removed yesterday from ICU and moved to an executive suite.

Her daughter Melissa release this statement:

"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. ET surrounded by family and close friends. My son [Cooper] and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother."

Joan Rivers was no stranger to controversy.  She had a wit to her which often got her in trouble. Recently, she made some comments about Palestinians which upset many who saw the comments as racist. Rivers was a pioneer for women being one of the first female comedians and talk show host.  In an industry dominated by Caucasian males, Rivers pushed through making a name for herself. She also sold jewelry and clothing at QVC.

She was born Joan Alexandra Rosenberg Molinsky in Brooklyn, New York.  One could tell she was from Brooklyn due to her heavy New York accent.  She is also considered an icon among radical feminists for her support for Planned Parenthood which is not uncommon for liberal celebrities.

Eternal rest grant to her oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May Joan Rivers rest in peace.
