Well, this is exactly what happened. The Kansas City Royals have beat the Mets on their own field in Flushing, Queens winning the World Series championship; their first title win since 1985. The Royals were leading the series 3 to 1 needing only 1 more to win. At first, the Mets were winning tonight's game but fell apart late in the game. The Royals burst through bringing in hits and scoring 7 runs over the 2 the Mets had. While the Mets have good pitching, their offense was not as strong. The Royals have the best hitters in the league and their pitching is strong making the perfect recipe to win any game.
Mets fans were visibly stressed and upset during the game. Many of them were crying and had gloomy faces. Citi Field emptied immediately and was taken over by Kansas City Royals fans.

In any event, the Mets and their fans should not feel bad. They did extremely well this season and earned their spot in the World Series. There is always next year.. if the Yankees are not in it of course. :-)
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS!
