Laieski was honored by President Obama as well as Phoneix Mayor Greg Stanton for his outspokeness against bullying and other issues young LGBT people face.
It is not the first time a gay activist was arrested for having sexual contact with a minor. LGBT activist Larry Brinkin was arrested last year for similar charges as well as possessing and making child pornography.

There is a fondness for young slim boyish looking males in the gay community. These males are called "twinks." Naturally, these features will be found in pre-teens and teen boys which make them targets for sexual predators like Brinkin and Laiesk.
