Catholic Religious Sister Attacked by Jewish Man

Recent Attack on a Catholic Nun in Jerusalem Highlights Growing Concerns Over Christian Safety in the Holy Land

On April 28, 2026, a French-born Catholic nun, a 48-year-old researcher at the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem (École Biblique), was violently assaulted near the Cenacle (the site traditionally associated with the Last Supper and King David's Tomb) on Mount Zion, just outside Jerusalem's Old City. CCTV footage released by Israeli police shows a cowardly man running up behind her, shoving her to the ground, and kicking her as she lay on the pavement. She sustained bruises to her head and other injuries. Bystanders intervened, and police quickly arrested a 36-year-old suspect named Yonah Schreiber.

Israeli authorities described the incident as a suspected "racially motivated assault." The attacker was a Jewish Israeli man, with reports identifying him in connection with settler or ultra-Orthodox extremist circles. Israeli officials, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the act as "shameful" and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting freedom of worship. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Faculty of Humanities called it part of a "troubling pattern of growing hostility toward the Christian community."

This unprovoked attack is not isolated. Christians in Jerusalem and Israel, particularly clergy and pilgrims identifiable by their garments or symbols, face frequent harassment. Reports document spitting, verbal abuse, physical assaults, and vandalism, primarily from ultra-Orthodox Jewish extremists who view Christian symbols as idolatrous.

Broader Pattern of Attacks on Christians

Organizations like the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue track these incidents. Their reports show a rise: 111 cases in 2024 and 155 in 2025, though they note this is likely "the tip of the iceberg." Physical attacks (spitting, hitting, pepper spray) form the majority, alongside vandalism of church property (graffiti, damaged statues, arson, garbage dumping).

Recent examples include:

- IDF soldier vandalizing a crucifix (April 2026): In the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon, an Israeli soldier used a sledgehammer or axe to smash the head of a Jesus statue/crucifix. The IDF confirmed the incident, condemned it as a "moral failure," investigated, detained soldiers, and replaced the statue. It drew widespread condemnation from Israeli leaders, church officials, and the U.S.

- Attacks on the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem's Old City, including settlers spitting on crosses, icons, and monasteries (e.g., June 2025 incident at the Armenian Convent).

- Spitting and harassment of clergy in the Old City, often by young ultra-Orthodox Jews. Incidents surged around religious holidays.

- Vandalism of Christian cemeteries (e.g., ~30 gravestones desecrated on Mount Zion in early 2023, with ongoing reports).

- Arson and attacks on churches in the West Bank, such as the 2025 fire at St. George Church in the Christian town of Taybeh.

While Muslim extremists have also targeted Christians in the region (e.g., in Gaza or broader Middle East contexts), in Israel and East Jerusalem, documented trends point predominantly to Jewish extremist perpetrators. Israeli police sometimes respond, but critics argue enforcement is inconsistent, and some politicians have downplayed spitting as a "tradition."

Evangelical Claims vs. Reality: Israel as an "Ally" to Christians?

Many Evangelical Christians, particularly Christian Zionists in the U.S., strongly support Israel as a biblical ally and fulfillment of prophecy (e.g., the return of Jews to the Holy Land preceding end-times events). Groups like Christians United for Israel emphasize shared Judeo-Christian values, strategic partnership against common threats, and Israel's role as the "only democracy" in the Middle East that protects religious freedom.

However, Palestinian Christians and Catholic/Orthodox leaders in the Holy Land often highlight a disconnect. They report feeling squeezed by occupation policies, settler violence, and restrictions, while noting that Christian populations in Israel and the West Bank have declined significantly over decades. Critics argue unconditional Evangelical political and financial support overlooks or enables these abuses against fellow Christians. Palestinian pastors, like those in Bethlehem, have publicly questioned why Western Evangelicals prioritize geopolitical alignment over solidarity with local believers facing daily harassment.

This tension raises important questions about alliances: Can Israel be considered a reliable protector of Christian communities when incidents like the nun's attack and crucifix desecration recur, even as officials condemn them?

A Call for Greater Protection and Dialogue

The attack on the French nun should prompt reflection. Jerusalem is sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. True coexistence requires robust protection for all faiths, swift justice for attackers regardless of background, and honest dialogue that transcends political narratives. Christians worldwide—Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant—should advocate for the safety of their brothers and sisters in the Holy Land without excusing violence from any side.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem and the safety of all who call the Holy Land home.

Homophobic Mom who Killed Gay Son and Set Him on Fire gets 25 Years

Tatiana Lozano Pereira of Brazil was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing and burning her gay son Itaberli Lozano.  In 2017, Pereira claimed that her son ran away and came back to kill her. She claimed that she killed him with a knife out of self defense. The authorities did not buy her story. It was discovered that she had hired local boys/men to severely beat her son after luring him home with promises of reconciliation between the two.  The boys/men revealed the details of what really happened to the police.

Pereira then stabbed her son to death and set him on fire after the men refused to kill him. Her husband then helped dispose of the charred remains. Young Itaberli Lozano has posted things on Facebook detailing the abuse he received from his mother and denounced her homophobia.  You can read more here: https://www.sacerdotus.com/2017/01/mom-stabs-sets-son-on-fire-for-being-gay.html.

A jury of her peers agreed to a 25 years and eight months prison sentence for her crimes. Two others charged with the plot,  Victor Roberto da Silva and Miller da Silva Barissa were sentenced to 21 years and eight months. Lozano's stepfather and husband of Pereira was charged with the concealing of a deceased body, but his trial is being rescheduled.  The uncle of Itaberli came to the defense of his nephew saying that his nephew had a job, was polite and never quarreled with anyone. He added that his only problem was his mother who did not accept him as a gay male.  The parties sentenced all plan to appeal their sentences.

The news of the killing of this young man was heartbreaking. How can a mother kill her own son just because he is gay? To me, the sentence is too little. She should have been sentenced to life.  As a Catholic, I naturally disagree with the homosexual lifestyle; however, this does not mean that I or the Church wants gay people to be beaten or killed. This goes against God, the Church and humanity! We are all sinners. No one is perfect. Gay people are human and deserve our love and respect despite our disagreements.

I cannot imagine the horrors this beautiful teenage baby boy faced. To be beaten up by boys your own mom hired or by men hired to kill him is just evil. Moreover, for a mom to stab and set her own son on fire is sickening and evil. To think that this boy went home and saw his mom cheering on as the guys beat him and then calling for his death only to do it herself.  It is just horrendous and saddening. Moreover, we do not know for sure if he was dead when he was set ablaze. Can you imagine being in his position watching your own mom stab you?  It gets me sick to my stomach.

If you are gay and are reading this. Do not be afraid if your family attacks you. Go and seek help from the police, teachers or clergy. You do not have to be a victim of abuse of any kind.

May young Itaberli Lozano through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Mom Stabs & Sets Son on Fire for being Gay

A bond between a mother and child is probably the most sacred human union possible. The bond begins from within a mother's womb at conception. However, this bond is not always perfect due to fallen human nature.

A mother, Tatiana Lozano Pereira in Sao Paolo, Brazil has confessed to killing her oldest son. Itaberli Lozano's charred remains were found January 7 in a field in Cravinhos. He has been missing since late December, according to the boy's grandmother.

Tatiana Pereira claims that she killed her son because he was gay. She accuses him of bringing drugs and men into a home they shared. Pereira told the police that on December 27, there was a fight between her and Itaberli. He ran away and then came back two days later. She claims that she was upset because he threatened to kill her and took a knife and killed him in self-defense. Afterwards, she says her husband helped dispose of the body of her son. Police investigating the case did not buy her story, finding holes in it. They learned via Itaberli's Facebook that his mom had hired boys to beat him up. He posted his injuries on social media. The police questioned these boys and they revealed more details about what really happened.

Itaberli Lozano was lured home by his mother in an attempt to reconcile. There, she had two men ages 18 and 19 waiting to attack Lozano. They beat him up to teach him a "lesson" and she requested that they finish him off. However, they refused. Upon doing so, Itaberli's mom took a kitchen knife and stabbed the boy. They took the boy to a field and set him ablaze leaving only charred remains of the photogenic young man.

The boy's uncle denounced his sister and defended the honor of the boy saying he did no drugs and was a good kid. Itaberli was known as a polite kid who never quarreled with anyone and had a job.

This news is heartbreaking. How can a mother kill her own son just because he is gay? As a Catholic, I naturally disagree with the homosexual lifestyle; however, this does not mean that I or the Church wants gay people to be beaten or killed. This goes against God, the Church and humanity! We are all sinners. No one is perfect. Gay people are human and deserve our love and respect despite our disagreements. Atheist Killer Faces Death Penalty

Craigs Hicks, or the North Carolina atheist who killed three young Muslims may possibly face the death penalty. Hicks confessed to the shootings.  Search warrants found large amounts of guns and ammunition at his home.

An investigation is still ongoing as to whether or not Hicks' act was a hate crime or just a dispute over parking. Hicks was known as a "hot head" in the neighborhood and argued over parking spaces.  However, he never shot and killed anyone until these 3 young Muslims came along.  Two of them were female and wore their traditional Muslim garb. It seems clear that Hicks discriminated against these three Muslims and his anger and hatred for religion amplified his reaction which led to the murder of these three young kids.

Moreover, the autopsies done on the bodies of the three Muslim victims indicated that two of them had the gun pointed directly at the heads.  This means that Hicks intentionally wanted to murder them with a shot to the head.  Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha died of close gunshots to the head.  Hicks placed his gun directly on their scalps or close and shot them execution style.  One was shot in the top of the head and the other on the back of the head.  Note that these two victims were female so they looked "Muslim" in regards to their traditional garb.  The male and husband of Yusor, Deah Shaddy died of multiple shots to his body.

The manner in which the two young girls were killed and the multiple shots directed at the male clearly shows that Hicks was angry and wanted them gone.  Hate is the strongest form of anger.  It makes sense that Hicks committed a hate crime and targeted these young people because they were Muslims.  Moreover, he never got to this violent point with other neighbors whom he argued with over the same thing, parking.

Gays Attacked in New York City

Recently, for the past month or so, gay men have been targeted in New York City.  One gay man, Mark Carson was shot to death as he walked with a partner near the Stonewall inn, the spot where the Gay rights movement began.  Others have been beaten severely after being verbally abused by being called homosexual derogatory terms.  The incidents and their timing are of concern to city officials, gay rights leaders and all New Yorkers including myself.

This is extremely disturbing to hear.  I am not in favor of the Homosexual lifestyle nor am I for Gay rights in regards to marriage and adoption; however, I am for the Homosexual person.  I respect and love the individual as I would anyone else of any gender, race or religious persuasion.  Regardless of how we live our lives, we all deserve to live them peacefully and without hate.

Unfortunately, many gays are attacked or abused on streets and elsewhere and these incidents are
not reported.  The same occurs with women who are sexually harassed.  This has to stop.  Any incident that makes one feel uncomfortable or is a clear violation of the law must be reported in detail to the police.  There is nothing anyone should fear because the law is on their side.

Any person who attacks gay people because they are gay is full of anger and needs psychological and spiritual healing.  Moreover, if this person is hating based on religious ideas, then this person must be made aware that God is not about hate.  God is love.  God hates our sins and the stupid things we do that degrade our human dignity; however, He loves each one of us unconditionally.  Christ on the Cross proves this.  As Catholics, our lifestyle is to love others in Christ, this includes gay people.

We do not know the details of each attack, but must let investigators do their job and not jump to conclusions.  These attacks can be the result of "Gay panic."  This is a term psychologists use when heterosexual men are confronted by gay men in a flirtatious or sexual manner and panic.

This panic can result in aggression because the heterosexual male feels that the gay male overstepped his boundaries and disrespected his masculinity.  Two cases of this comes to mind.  Years ago, on the "Jenny Jones" show, a gay man came on the show to reveal a crush he had on a heterosexual male.  The heterosexual male was brought on the show with the news that "someone" had a crush on him.

Believing it to be a female, he gladly and excitedly participated.  However, when the revelation was made that the crush was another male, this heterosexual male on the show seemed to take it in good stride, but looks can be deceiving.  After the show, he killed the homosexual man claiming he was embarrassed on nation television and made out to look like if he was gay.  Read more on it here: http://www.findadeath.com/Deceased/a/scottamedure/scott_amedure.htm

The other case was in Puerto Rico where a heterosexual Puerto Rican picked up a prostitute he believed to be a woman.  When the prostitute revealed himself to be a 19 year old transsexual, the heterosexual man killed him, decapitated him and set his remains on fire in an apparent rage.  You can read more here:  http://southfloridagaynews.com/articles/puerto-rican-pleads-guilty-in-decapitation-of-gay-teen/101172

In any case, violence is not the answer.  Heterosexual men must realize that sometimes they do not attract only females.  Today's men's fashion have clothing that are skin tight and will reveal curves and bumps that will most likely attract gay men.  Heterosexual males must realize this.  Modesty is important.  Gay men must also respect the fact that not every good looking guy can be approached and flirted with.  Some heterosexual men who are mature will most likely smile and say they are not gay and not make a big deal, others may not be so peaceful.

I pray that this wave of attacks ceases and that all peoples gay or not can walk the streets of New York or any place and not feel as if they will be a victim of hate or violence.

Lying Lesbian

A former basketball star, Charlie Rogers was found beaten and bruised.  Neighbors found her and she told them that masked men entered her home, beat her and used anti-gay slurs directed at her.  Rogers is a 33 year old lesbian.  The people believed her until cops found discrepancies with her story.  She kept changing the details which lead them to believe that it was a hoax.

They were right!  It was indeed a hoax.  DNA analysis showed that she basically injured herself.  No other DNA was found.  Rogers apparently did this in order to gain support for the LGBT agenda in Nebraska.

Talk about desperation... How low can you go?
