Hugo Chavez dead at 58

Venezuelan's infamous dictator has been able to outsmart many people who have tried to oust him from power; however, he was not able to overcome cancer.  Chavez, has recently gone treatment in Cuba for his illness.  He is friends with dictator Fidel Castro.

As a Socialist, Chavez tried to impose on his people ideas that would conflict with the interests of the United States of America.  Because of this, his relationship with the United States has not been a good one.  Chavez was known to bait the United States by making accusations against President Bush.  He seemed to have liked Obama better.  His supporters are now blaming the United States for his cancer.

Chavez did not like anyone opposing him.  He had many run-ins with the Catholic Church by calling the hierarchy "devils in vestments," "liars and perverts."  He considered Jesus Christ to be the "greatest socialist in human history."

We now have to wait and see what happens.  Hopefully the Venezuelan people will wake up and install a government that will respect their rights.  Chavez may have not been a great leader, but we shouldn't celebrate his death.  He is still a child of God and needs our prayers.  May he rest in peace.

  2. His death is a irreparable loss. Besides being a good leader, he was generous with all the countries in this continent that needed him. May his soul rest in peace.
