Scientists: Bible Records Actual Historical Solar Eclipse

Atheists often attack the Bible as irrelevant and a mere collection of myths. Well, modern science continues to refute that claim by showing that the Bible has a lot of worth; not just spiritually, but also historically and scientifically.

A new study published in Astronomy & Geophysics, Volume 58, Issue 5, 1 October 2017, indicates that a solar eclipse described in the Bible is historically accurate and helps pinpoint the reign of certain pharaohs. In fact, scientists have rejected Chinese and Ugaritic records in favor of Biblical ones.

The solar eclipsed is believed to be described in Joshua 10:12 where Joshua mentions the Sun standing still while the Moon is nearby during the battle at Gibeon.  The dating of this text account correlates with the event of a solar eclipse which took place October 30, 1207 BC which is 3,224 years ago.  The study confirms previous data from Beersheba’s Ben Gurion University.

Once again, science supports the Bible and the Bible supports science. The Bible is demonstrated as containing content that is actually historical. Without the biblical record of Joshua's battle of Gibeon, scientists would not have been able to verify and date the solar eclipse that took place on October 30 in 1207 BC.
