Catholic League Out

Bill Donahue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has decided to pull out of marching in the 2015 St. Patrick's Day parade.  He claims that it has nothing to do with the recent inclusion of gays at the parade and insists that it has to do with the parade's rejection of pro-life groups marching under their own banner.  Donahue feels betrayed.  Parade officials respond by stating that pro-life groups are allowed to march but that none filed to march in time.  One also said on CBS that Donahue thinks the parade is a Catholic parade but it's an Irish parade.

Others throughout the blogosphere and Twitter believe the decision to bow out is in fact due to the inclusion of gays at the parade.  There are even some stating that Donahue is snubbing Cardinal Dolan who will be the Grand Marshal.  Cardinal Dolan surprised many and angered some with his support of gays marching at the parade.  Some believe that he betrayed the Church by giving legitimacy to this subculture which has been trying to force itself in every facet of society.  However, Donahue stated that these are just attempts to pit him against the Cardinal and that there is nothing factual about the claims.

Some gays have taken to Twitter to mock the Catholic League and celebrate its boycott.  They are calling Donahue a bigot, cry baby and other words that I cannot put here.  If it's true that pro-life groups did not apply in time, then the parade should make some accommodation and allow them to apply so that things can be fair.

De Blasio Shuns Catholics

Mayor-elect Bill De Blasio has shunned Catholics.  The Catholic league accuses him of shunning the Catholic presence from his transition board.  De Blasio requested that this board be inclusive of all people that make up the demographics of New York City.  However, no Catholic priests were asked to be on the board.  Instead,  two protestant ministers, two rabbis and one imam were named.  Catholics make up over 52% of New York City so Donahue of the Catholic league argues that De Blasio is making an indirect statement on how he feels about Catholics.

To further add to the insult, De Blasio put on the board Arnold L. Lehman the director of the Brooklyn Museum of Art which had a disrespectful image of Our Blessed Mother covered with elephant dung and pornographic pictures.  It seems that De Blasio already has a group he will not respect: Catholics.

This news is disturbing indeed.  De Blasio already wears his progressive badge on his sleeve and proudly supports abortion, so-called gay marriage, contraception and other atrocities.  The Catholic Church is the only institution that bravely counters these errors of our time so it seems De Blasio wants no part of Catholics in his administration.
