Rally in Staten Island

On Saturday August 23, a large rally took place in Staten Island New York protesting police brutality and discrimination.  The rally was led by Al Sharpton in response to the choking death of Eric Garner.  Garner was killed by a plainclothes police officer by means of a chokehold. The entire thing was caught on video.

To date, the cop has not been charged or arrested despite the medical examiner ruling the death of Garner a homicide.  This is what is boiling up tempers especially among minorities who feel the police harass them kill them and get away with it. This rally got even more steam due to the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

The rally was thankfully peaceful and comprised of prayers, song, and chants, "We Will Not Go Back" referring to the Civil Rights era where African Americans were not given a platform to speak and were often hosed down by the police and firemen when they attempted to organize a protest.

Those participating insisted that the rally was not an anti-police march, but an attempt to bring attention to the issue of unarmed minorities being killed and not receiving justice. There was some controversy regarding unions participating in the march.  Others criticize the march describing it as a ploy for Sharpton and other race-baiters to get attention and flame the fires of racism.

The march and rally had people of all races who took to the streets to protest.  Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York called on participants to be peaceful.  He wasn't present at the march. Usually Catholic clergy don't participate in these sort of rallies because they need to be neutral and not take sides.

Trayvon Martin Nativity Scene

Protestantism is known for heresy and straying from the fullness of Christianity founded only in the Catholic Church; however, one sect is committing blasphemy with a capital 'B.'

Claremont United Methodist church in California has erected a horrible "nativity scene" created by John Zachary which replaces the Christ child with a figure of Trayvon Martin.

As you may know, Trayvon Martin was the African American teenager who was killed in self defense by George Zimmerman over a year ago in Florida. The case became a hot topic in regards to race and the court of popular opinion.

Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges based on Florida's "stand your ground" laws.  This caused an uproar among race baiters such as Al Sharpton and the Black Panthers.

Zachary claims he created the nativity scene in order to "make the story of Christmas relevant in modern times." Excuse me?  He has it wrong.  All periods of times must be relevant to the Christ Child who was born to save the world. Trayvon Martin didn't die for our sins.  He is no savior, only a kid who made some stupid decisions which got him killed after he tried to kill another man.

This "nativity scene" -if I can call it that- is disrespectful and completely misses the point of the traditional display of the Nativity scene which was started by St. Francis of Assisi.  It is meant to commemorate the birth of the Savior, not to make silly political and racially charged statements.

Zachary is offending all Christians with this nonsense which displays Trayvon in his hoodie with bloody hands as blood pours from his chest. I hope many people complain to Claremont United Methodist and ask them to destroy this piece of junk.  Shame on this congregation for allowing this stupid anti-Christ display that serves only to cause racial division and hate.

Please take the time to contact this heretical sect and voice your anger at the disrespect that is being given to Christ the Lord.

Juror B29

Juror B29 was recently interviewed by ABC news and made a bombshell statement regarding Zimmerman.  She claimed that he 'got away with murder.' This juror decided to show her face and gave the name "Maddy."  She is of Puerto Rican descent.

Maddy stated during the interview:

“You can’t put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty.” 

Appearently, she feels that Zimmerman is guilty but decided to give a not guilty verdict.  This sounds strange to me.  If she felt he was guilty, why did she give the not guilty verdict?

Moreover, she continued,

“It’s hard for me to sleep, it’s hard for me to eat because I feel I was forcefully included in Trayvon Martin’s death. And as I carry him on my back, I’m hurting as much Trayvon’s Martin’s mother because there’s no way that any mother should feel that pain.”

I'm not too sure that this juror is being honest with herself.  I think she is claiming this now in order to draw the public's anger away from her.  She showed her face, so she clearly had to find a way to draw the anger away so that she would not become a target herself.

Perhaps she is doing this to draw attention and profit?  Who knows? 

This trial and the aftermath is a complete circus.

Trayvon Protests

Hours after George Zimmerman was found not guilty for manslaughter, thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in many cities around the United States.  They are crying foul.  To them, the verdict should have been guilty.  They are basing this on the idea that race was involved. 

Unfortunately, there is a social stigma that seems to follow African Americans.  They seem to be the target of injustice and abuse.  Those who fight for civil rights such as, Al Sharpton claim that Blacks are not given justice.  When they are killed, their killers are freed.

Al Sharpton is no stranger to controversy.  He is known for race baiting and seems to be present almost instantaneously whenever an African American is abused or killed by a member of another race and there is media attention around the incident.  Prior to the verdict, Sharpton has been inciting riots by claiming that Trayvon was being denied justice because of the color of his skin. The media as well has played a role in race being the issue during the trial.  They began to air reports claiming that Zimmerman was profiling Trayvon for wearing a hoodie and for being Black.  The media fed the people this lie and those who are gullible believed it and are now unhappy with our judicial system.

According to the 911 tapes, Zimmerman never describe Trayvon as Black until the operator asked him the race of the one he spotted in the neighborhood.  Trayvon was not profiled based on the evidence.  The media was wrong in presenting this to the public.  Moreover, Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have to stop race baiting. America has come far in erasing prejudice from our way of life and opening old woulds will not help.

Thousands are protesting throughout the United States ignoring President Obama's call for calm and reflection.  In California, a police car was vandalized, in New York protestors disrupted traffic and in other cities, vandalism has been reported.  In Baltimore, a Hispanic man was beaten by a group of black men as they shouted, "this is for Trayvon."

All this violence is on the hands of Sharpton, Jackson and the media.  People who are upset at the verdict must understand how our system works.  Zimmerman was judged by a jury of his peers.  They observed the evidence and found him not guilty because the evidence indicated that the whole incident was based on self-defense.  There was no evidence that Zimmerman was out to kill black boys.  

In Chicago, a 16 year old African American boy was killed by another African American for not joining a gang.  The media is silent on this.  Sharpton and company are no where to be found.  This double standard is troubling to say the least.

Sharpton and Jackson claim to be "reverends," but would Christ race bait?  Would Christ call for division?  Furthermore, Trayvon's parents have to speak out and call on peace and calm. I called on Sharpton and Trayvon's father to promote peace and calm.  May God bring peace to all and may we all be tolerant of one another.

Zimmerman NOT GUILTY

Zimmerman was found not guilty by an all female jury in Florida.  Zimmerman was accused of killed Trayvon Martin in Florida in 2012. The trial has brought up talk on racism and self defense.

On a spring night in Sanford, Florida; George Zimmerman, a patrol man in his neighborhood was making rounds.  He spotted what he believed to be a suspicious person with a hoody.  This person was Trayvon Martin, 17 who was walking after purchasing some things at a store.  According to the story, Zimmerman began to follow Martin and called 911.  Zimmerman informed the operator that there was someone acting suspiciously in his neighborhood and said he was going to investigate.  The operator told him not to, but he came outside claiming that Martin returned to his vehicle.

An argument broke out and eventually led to a fist fight with Trayvon punching Zimmerman in the face.  Both ended up on the ground with Martin on top of Zimmerman pounding his head into the pavement. Zimmerman, took out a gun and shot Martin.  Martin would succumb to the shot.  The rest is history.

This case has been under heavy scrutiny worldwide.  Many have brought in the race card claiming that the death was a result of racism.  Al Sharpton and others immediately began to cry out foul and incited rioting.  The trial became an issue of a "white man" killing a black boy instead of a whether or not Zimmerman defended himself or killed Trayvon just for the heck of it.

Based on the evidence, I was convinced that Zimmerman was innocent.  The jury - all women - took almost a day to decide the verdict and asked for a clarification of the instructions regarding manslaughter.  Zimmerman defended himself from an aggressor.  Yes, he came out of his car despite being told to stay; nevertheless, Trayvon could have had a gun and shot him while he was in the car.  Anything could have happened so it was best for him to investigate.  Trayvon struck Zimmerman first and Zimmerman had the wounds to prove that.  Zimmerman was a midget compared to Trayvon who was over 6 feet and younger.  Therefore, it was logical for Zimmerman to use his handgun if he felt his life was in danger.

It is unfortunate that this took place and I'm sure Zimmerman is not happy Trayvon is dead; however, perhaps things could have gone differently had Zimmerman just kept his distance and Trayvon would have kept his cool when confronted.

This trial was important because self defense was also on the line.  Had Zimmerman been found guilty, people would be scared to use force to defend themselves.  If someone comes at you and is able to kill you, will you dare use force against that person knowing that Zimmerman was found guilty for defending himself with force?  I think it is important that self defense be taught and that people will not be afraid to do what is necessary for self preservation.

Zimmerman kept his cool during the trial and did not show any displays of victory after the verdict.  His demeanor perhaps aided in the the decision of the jury.  

In any event, a child was killed and we must pray for Trayvon Martin's family that they find peace and closure.  If only the event would have consisted of Zimmerman offering a teen in the rain a ride home, we would not have this trial and Trayvon would still be here.  However, it did not turn out this way and unfortunately Trayvon lost his life and Zimmerman as well, in a sense. 

We must also pray for Zimmerman whose life has change dramatically.  CNN posted his social security number and other information.  He will have a difficult time returning to society especially with the Black Panthers have called for his head and Al Sharpton is inciting riots by using the race card.

Trayvon Martin

A tragedy in the news that took place in February is taking the country by storm.  A young teen boy, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a "neighborhood watch captain."

The story goes that Zimmerman was patrolling the neighborhood and saw Martin.  He calls 911 and tells them that there is a suspicious guy (Trayvon) who is acting strange and is not from the neighborhood.  He tells the operator that he is following the guy and the operator informs him not to do that.  Eventually a scuffle took place and Trayvon was shot and killed by Zimmerman.

As these details were released by the media, an outrage began to pour throughout the African American community and eventually other minority groups.  Al Sharpton and others quickly rose to cry foul play and play the race card as usual.

Unfortunately, people easily manipulated by the media began to jump to conclusions without knowing the facts.  The ugly "R" word racism was the issue now being discussed.  The racial profiling of a black male wearing a hoodie became a focal point.  Many are now wearing hoodies to protest the killing and call for the arrest of Zimmerman who was not charged.

What's even more disturbing than this frenzy is the fact that some black celebrities began offering a bounty on whoever captures Zimmerman!  Movie producer Spike Lee even tweeted an address thinking it belonged to Zimmerman which in reality belongs to an elderly couple who are now being harassed.

This is just unthinkable!  How can someone complain about racism and hate but put a bounty on a man's life without knowing the facts?  In this country everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Moreover, the media started to show Zimmerman in prisoner's attire which further added to the "guilty until proven innocent" frenzy that is going around.  This photo was being used until recent details surfaced claiming that Trayvon attacked Zimmerman and Zimmerman shot him in self defense.

What's interesting now is that Zimmerman claimed to have injuries from this attack but a recent video from the precinct shows Zimmerman with virtually no marks on his face or head.  The plot thickens...

In any even, we all should first wait until all the facts are in before making any conclusion.  None of us was there that night.  We cannot assume race was a factor nor can we assume Trayvon was some gangster with a hoodie looking for trouble.
