Tragic Mass Shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis Leaves Two Children Dead, 17 Injured

Minneapolis, MN – A horrific mass shooting unfolded at Annunciation Catholic School in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, during a morning Mass marking the first week of the school year. The attack claimed the lives of two children, aged 8 and 10, and left 17 others injured, 14 of whom are children. The shooter, a 20-year-old male dressed in white clothing, opened fire through the church windows before taking his own life, according to Minneapolis police.  This was literally a MASS Shooting!

The shooting occurred around 8:15 a.m. local time at Annunciation Catholic Church, adjacent to the school, which serves students from prekindergarten through eighth grade. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the incident as a “deliberate act of violence against children and worshippers.” The suspect, armed with a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, approached the side of the church and fired dozens of rounds through the windows, targeting children and worshippers seated in the pews during the all-school Mass.

“It’s an incomprehensible act of cowardice,” Chief O’Hara said during a press conference. He confirmed the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the church parking lot. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity but noted he had no extensive known criminal history. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.

Of the 17 injured, 14 are children, with two in critical condition, according to police reports. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and at least six children were transported to Children’s Hospital of Minnesota for treatment. The Minneapolis city government confirmed shortly after 10:30 a.m. that the shooter had been “contained,” and there was no ongoing threat to the community. A reunification zone was established for families to reconnect with their children.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the violence “horrific,” stating, “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this tragic act.” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a vocal advocate for gun control, expressed profound grief, saying, “Children are dead, there are families that have a deceased child. You cannot put into words the gravity of this situation.”

Witnesses reported hearing up to 50 shots over several minutes. Bill Bienemann, a local resident who attends Mass at Annunciation Church, described the terrifying sound of gunfire echoing through the neighborhood. The school, which began its academic year on Monday, August 25, has an enrollment of approximately 370 students.

Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the FBI responded to the scene to assist local law enforcement. President Donald Trump, in a statement on Truth Social, said he was “fully briefed” on the tragedy and urged prayers for those affected.

The Annunciation Catholic School shooting marks the 287th mass shooting in the United States in 2025, according to reports. The community is reeling as parents, students, and residents grapple with the aftermath of this devastating event.

This post will be updated as we learn more. UPDATE August 27. 2025 1:29 PM EDT: Social media accounts are posting that Robin Westman was the shooter. An image and video from his now-deleted YouTube account are being posted on X. Some accounts are claiming he is a trans person, possessed or may have had some kind of mental illness.  According to the videos, a layout of the church property is allegedly visible.  We have not independently confirmed these claims, but will post them for your information.

The written manifesto is 4 pages extensively apologizing to his family and saying it’s ok to change their name after this. Blames Vaping for giving him cancer, and continues with a dialogue of depression, sadness stating this is what he always wanted.

The alleged shooter released multiple videos on social media, which showed that he clearly hated Christians. They have since been taken down.

UPDATE August 27, 2025, 5:35PM: According to the latest updates, it has been confirmed that Robert Weston was, in fact, the shooter. His mother worked as a secretary and administrative assistant at the school/parish and retired in 2021 (https://t.co/JJqSjN32wx).  Weston also attended the school as a child, which allowed him to know the logistics of the property. 

UPDATE August 28, 2024, 1:00 PM:

Two students, ages 8 and 10, are dead, shot in the head. A new video has emerged showing the aftermath of the shooting.  Officials say that the locking of church doors helped prevent the shooter from entering and possibly killing more children.  The authorities are classifying this act as a hate crime against Catholics. The shooter also had racist writings, atheistic ramblings against God, and wanted to kill children and enjoy doing it.

Eric Frein Busted

The manhunt for suspected cop killer Eric Matthew Frein is finally over.  After a long 48 day search for Frein, he was found near an airplane hanger. He did not put up any resistance and identify himself to marshalls who arrested him. The search cost over $10 million dollars but has now restored peace and security to the areas he was suspected of hiding at.

Frein attacked two state troopers killing one.  The handcuffs of the officer who was killed were used to arrest Frein.  Even his patrol car was used to bring Frein in to face charges. Eric Matthew is known to be good with guns. He is a trained marksman and had a facination with military life. Frein had a disdain for the police and his unprovoked attack on the two troopers is believed to be as a result of his hatred for law enforcers. The country prosecutor has vowed to push for the death penalty for Eric Frein which hopefully will send a message to anyone in the nation who may think that killing cops is not a serious crime.

I am glad Frein was finally caught and will face charges for his crimes. Unfortunately 10 million dollars went down the drain because of him, so to speak. Nevertheless, Pennsylvanians can sleep better knowing this sociopath is in custody.  Since he loves the military so much and is a marksmen, perhaps he should be sent to Iraq and Syria to take out ISIS members.

Another Shooting at St. Louis

New civil unrest is developing in St. Louis, Missouri after an off-duty police offer fired his gun 17 times at a teenager who allegedly fired at him. This news comes just months from the shooting incident involving Officer Darren Wilson who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri bring about riots.  Details are still coming in so I will update this post as I learn more.  The police department did tweet this:

Independence Day - 4th of July

Happy Independence day to all in the United States of America. 

Today we celebrate the day when our fore fathers and mothers won the war begun on April 19, 1775 by bravely rebelling and fighting against the tyranny of the British government winning their independence into what would become the most powerful nation on Earth. 

The history seems so long ago being that it took place in the 1775-1776, but the echo of independence and the fight to keep it still rings out today.  Today we are threatened once again to fight against a government who is infringing on the freedoms of all Americans, in particular, freedom of religion and conscience. 

Moreover, the right to life which is mentioned in the Declaration is denied to the unborn.  Marriage is being perverted into an institution that even the most absurd of unions claims to have a right to. Moreover, the right to bear arms and privacy are under threat. New York state and Connecticut are passing some of the most anti- 2nd amendment laws to date. Recently, Edward Snowden revealed the NSA's spying on Americans and is facing backlash. Americans are being monitored by their own government!

This is unfortunate indeed. 

If we rid ourselves of our values, history and soul; if we allow our goverment to remove our freedoms and pervert marriage, what will be left? The United States of America is on a path to becoming another anti-God, anti-religion, anti-life, anti-family European Democratic Socialist entity. 

The people have the power to undo this. We must elect politicians who truly represent our values as Americans while respecting the common good of all and the fundamentals of society that cannot be altered.  Our rights come from God the Creator, not the government.  Hence, why the government has no authority to dictate when life begins, who is a human person and who can get married and when.

Gun Control

In light of the recent school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut; law officials are now pushing for more "gun control."  They hope to scale back the ability of people to purchase large guns.

The issue is a bit tricky.  I can see the rationale in both sides.

For guns

• The Constitution states we have the right to bear arms.  It does not specify the size.  
• We have the right to bear arms because of our history as Americans.  Colonists needed arms to defend themselves against the tyranny of the British armies during the revolution.
• It is not fair for the government and law officials to have guns and the people remain unarmed.   
• Hunting is a sport and guns are needed.

Against Guns

• Far too many people have died from guns.
• The USA has the highest gun deaths of any nation.
• Why do the people need guns if we have police and armies?
• Guns in the hands of the wrong people can be extremely dangerous..

Shooting at Wisconsin Sikh Temple

This morning an individual opened fired at a Sikh Temple killing several people and injuring others.  This is a hard time for America.  Just last month, a deranged college student opened fired at an AMC theater.  The debate on gun control now rolls on.

This new shooting has struck fear among the Sikh faithful as well as among followers of other faiths.  Churches, Temples, Synagogues, Mosques are places of peace.  No security is needed for they are places where anyone can enter freely to pray and meditate.  It is disturbing that someone would take advantage of this and commit mass murder.  

I pray for all those affected by this new tragedy.  We need to pray for peace and an end to violence.

The Dark Night Indeed...

On a night where the Batman movie, "The Rise of the Dark Knight" was set to be screened at a AMC theater in Aurora, Colorado, something unexpected happened.  A deranged young 24 year old entered an auditorium, threw a can of gas and began firing at all those in attendance.  He did not care who he shot at.  Men, women, children were all equal targets.

The movie goers did not know what to do.  At first, some thought this was a prank or part of the "show."  However, when the reality set in that this was a massacre, people began running for their lives.  Many of them heroically threw themselves over their loved ones, friends and strangers in order to shield them from the bullets.

Dozens were killed and over 70 injured.  James Holmes, a PhD student in neuroscience with a great academic record was arrested after being found outside of the theater armed to the teeth.   He identified himself as "the Joker" to the police and had his hair dyed red.

The details are still coming in.  No one seems to know why this young man did this horrific act.  He has no criminal record, no past mental illness issues and based on his academic record was set to be a brilliant neuro-scientist had he continued his Phd studies.

Reuters reported that Holmes is a Militant Atheist, but other sources say he went to church weeks before the attack.  More is still being discovered.

Holmes also booby trapped his apartment by setting a timer on his stereo system.  As the stereo went on with loud Techno music, cops would have shown up due to nuisance complaints.  Holmes purposely left his door unlocked so had anyone entered and tripped the wires, a bomb would have gone off.  Some speculate that this was some sort of diversion to lead cops to the apartment while he began his massacre at the theater.  

The media is all over reporting on this and unfortunately Twitter allowed Holmes' to trend instead of allowing the memory of the victims to trend.  People all over the nation and the world are in mourning.  President Obama ordered all flags at half staff.

Colorado is not a stranger to gun violence.  In  April of 1999, two disturbed Atheist kids who were fans of the self proclaimed "anti-Christ" heavy metal rocker "Marilyn Manson" entered their Columbine high school in Littleton,Co and killed dozens before turning the guns on themselves.

A connection between this theater shooting and the one in Columbine can possibly be made.  The aggressors were loners.  Human beings are social beings.  Without social contact, the human mind does not function properly.  It is by social interaction that human beings learn.

In any event, my prayers and thoughts go out to all those involved in the tragedy.  It was indeed a Dark Night.

We must rethink the direction our nation is going.  Our youth are desensitized due to the constant bombardment of violence by means of the media.  The trailer for the Batman movie had a scene where a villain enters and shoots in a theater.  This scene has been removed from the trailer after the tragedy.  

Morality and religion are seen as archaic and useless superstition relative solely to particular peoples and not the whole of society.   When anything pertaining to God and morals become offensive and violence and immorality becomes "cool" and the norm, rest assured incidents like this will continue to happen.
