Curiosity has landed!

A new Mars Rover has landed on Mars now after completing a 300+ million mile journey from Earth.  The robot "Curiosity" phoned home and began sending photos to NASA from the red planet.  Planning for this event was difficult.  Not much testing was done in order to see if the landing would have been successful.  This rover is the largest to date.  It weighs over a ton and is about the size of a car or small SUV.  

Curiosity will roam the red planet looking for organic compounds that might help explain some things on Earth as well as answer the question as to whether there was or is life on Mars.  Moreover, we will learn more about why Mars is the way it is now and if it was a "Earth like" planet before, and if so, what made it dry up into a red ball, so to speak.

This is an exciting time for humanity and for science lovers.  I hope all goes well and we begin to grow in knowledge.  There is much to learn from God's creation.
