"Nuns on the Bus"

A group of religious sisters or "nuns" has been in the spotlight lately for taking a bus around the nation promoting their views on social justice.

They are traveling around protesting a Republican budget plan which according to them would harm the poor.  The USCCB also has a similar opinion.

The budget plans big cuts that would affect the poor, in particular a cut in food stamps which are used by millions of Americans.  In a time where food prices are high and the dollar is losing value, food stamps are an only option for some.

I applaud the nuns for taking action by using this publicity stunt to attract attention to the needs of the poor but hope they would be in line with the Church's teachings on other issues and publicize them more as well.  American nuns have come under fire from the Vatican for succumbing to radical feminism which is a breeding ground for dissent and for focusing too much on social justice issues.   See my Nun Crack down blog.
