Twitter Going After Abusers

Finally, it seems like Twitter, Inc. is waking up to the abuse on its network.  For far too long there have been people creating several accounts for the sole purpose to troll, harass, bully, defame and threaten people.  I myself am a target of some of these deranged people.  However, every time I notified Twitter's support of these abusers, the reports were mostly ignored.  On several occasions, I was the one suspended instead of the abusers.  Well, now Twitter is updating its system to be more efficient in stopping abuse.

Accounts engaging in abuse will be locked and will have to provide a phone number.  Moreover, they may be asked to delete a tweet before being allowed to return to Twitter.  While this is a good step, there is still more to be done.  I think Twitter should start showing location and IP information in the tweets of users.  If location information is given, then most likely abusers will refrain from engaging in abusive behavior because they can be located. I hope Twitter does more and actually bans abusive people from their network who only use Twitter to harass and defame others.
