AIDS Infected "Pastor"

Juan Demetrius McFarland, a "pastor" of Shiloh Missionary Baptist church in Montgomery, Alabama made a startling confession to all of his congregations.  He contracted HIV and now has AIDS.  If that was not bad enough, he told them that he had sex with several women in the church, used drugs and misused church donations.

A churchgoer is heard on an audio tape saying, "Who does this to people, and you are the leader? Who does this?"  The hurt and sense of betrayal is obviously present.  How can a "man of God" do this? This man abused his position in this sect and possibly put many women in his congregation at risk with HIV.

2 Peter 2:1-3 seems to describe the situation well:

"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep."

My prayers go out to my brothers and sisters in this Baptist sect.  They are always welcomed to come back home to Christ's Church, the Catholic Church.
