Wow, the Red Sox have just won another world series in October of this year showing that they finally "broke the curse of the Bambino," but one of their key players has jumped ship, so to speak.
Young center fielder, Jacoby Ellsbury has agreed to a 7 year $155 million dollar deal with the New York Yankees (the Red Sox rivals). The deal is still pending a physical.
This is shocking news which I'm sure has stirred all kinds of emotions in Beantown and the Big Apple. The latter are excited, while the former are shouting expletives at Ellsbury for "betraying" Boston. This is not the first time a Red Sox player joins the "enemy" team. Babe Ruth and Johnny Damon were both productive Red Sox players who eventually became Yankees.
Ellsbury is a very productive player, but seems to have a tendency to get injured a lot. Hopefully, the Yankees can fix this and prevent him from repeating this pattern while in pinstripes. Ellsbury will bring to the Yankees speed, a good arm and good batting skills. Many NY Yankee fans are excited with this news especially female fans who are known to develop crushes for certain players they find attractive.
Some are speculating that the Yankees are sending a message to Robinson Cano with this new deal because he has been asking for an exaggerated amount in order for him to play for the Yankees again.
In any event, welcome Jacoby Ellsbury to New York!
