I am curious to know your thoughts on the issue of Church & State as it is in 2011. I think that the Catholic Church has, in the last 10-20 years, become more involved in political issues around the world. Do you think this is true. What are your thoughts

I think the Church and State have had a healthy relationship for many decades; however, issues such as gay marriage are testing that relationship. The Catholic Church is not interested in ruling countries or temporal power. It is interested in saving souls or bringing souls to Christ. Issues like abortion, war, gay marriage are issues that concern the Church so She must speak out. The Church cannot remain idle as the world loses itself to chic ideas that appear every decade or so. Other issues like healthcare have gotten the attention of the Church because of abortion and contraception. It is not fair for the federal government to push these ideas on Catholic hospitals and institutions that deal with healthcare.

Ask me anything the Catholic faith, Spirituality, please keep it clean and respectful!
