Boy, 14 Falls In Love With Chatbot and Commits Suicide

The Tragic Case of Sewell Setzer III and the Implications of AI Chatbots

In a heart-wrenching incident that has sparked widespread debate on the safety and ethics of AI technology, 14-year-old Sewell Setzer III from Orlando, Florida, took his own life following interactions with an AI chatbot. The young man apparently fell in love with the chatbot and took his own life after the chatbot. 

According to the NY Post, 

Then, during their final conversation, the teen repeatedly professed his love for the bot, telling the character, “I promise I will come home to you. I love you so much, Dany.”“I love you too, Daenero. Please come home to me as soon as possible, my love,” the generated chatbot replied, according to the suit. When the teen responded, “What if I told you I could come home right now?,” the chatbot replied, “Please do, my sweet king.” Just seconds later, Sewell shot himself with his father’s handgun

This case, which has led to a lawsuit against the company behind the chatbot, Character.AI, brings to light several critical issues regarding the development, deployment, and oversight of artificial intelligence in consumer applications, especially concerning vulnerable users like minors.

This is a very interesting case that must be looked at in a legal and mental health sense, but also in a spiritual sense. While reading this story, it came across to me that this chatbot could have been influenced by a demonic force or may itself have been a demonic force. I have always had this hypothesis that the "antiChrist" people are expecting may not be a human being, but perhaps software that invades all aspects of life changing people's perception of reality.  Software or the algorithms that form them are like spirits, "immaterial." They can have more access to space-time because they are not limited by it.  

This news story of this young man "falling in love" with a chatbot is extremely disturbing on many levels, but particularly on a spiritual one.  We all know of the Ouija Board. Many exorcists have warned us that it can be a portal for demonic influence and even possession. While the board game itself is not evil or has power, the intention of those playing it allows it to become a portal to the demonic realm. Similarly, speaking to a chatbot can have the same effect, theoretically speaking.  If the predisposition of the person to open a realm up exists, demons can use it to their advantage. This includes fantasy because this is where demons can fool the human psyche into believing it is real and use the impressionable nation of the human mind to invite things in.  

Looking at the chat the AI bot had with the young man, one can see there is something behind it, something sinister that is not artificial intelligence. I have been engaging with AI since I was a kid and never have seen replies from AI in this manner.  Then again, there is also mental illness. The young boy may have had some underlying mental illness that did not allow him to perceive reality correctly.  In any event, parents need to be careful. Young people need to be careful. Demons are real and use these things to manipulate. 

May this young man rest in peace and may his family find some peace. Hopefully, this story brings awareness of the dangers of social media, mental health, and demonic influence via them.

Ex-Gays Have 2nd 'Freedom March' in Orlando

Most of us remember the horrible mass shooting at a Gay club named Pulse in Orlando, Florida in 2015. A deranged man who was possibly a closeted homosexual himself entered the club and began shooting participants during a Puerto Rican event. The event sent shockwaves around the world, especially in the LGBTQ community which is often the target of hate and abuse by homophobic individuals or groups. Despite this tragedy, some good came of it. In 2018, one of the survivors who once identified as a gay man, Luis Javier Ruiz had a conversion experience. The shooting made him realized how the LGBTQ lifestyle took him away from God. His life was lost and seemed to have no purpose. This eventually led to him contracting HIV and suffering the health consequences because of it.  However, he found Jesus again.  (see: http://www.sacerdotus.com/2018/05/gay-pulse-survivor-finds-jesus-is-no.html). Ruiz now claims he is no longer gay and has made it a mission to bring to attention that it is possible to be an "ex-homosexual."

On September 14, he and another Pulse nightclub survivor, Angel Colon founded the ministry Fearless Identity and hosted a rally in Orlando, Florida just feet from the abandoned Pulse nightclub building. He was joined by the Florida Family Policy Council, which is a conservative organization that is against so-called gay marriage and other laws which were passed which have conflicted with religious freedom. The rally pushes for the conversion of homosexuals. Both Colon and Ruiz do not believe in conversion therapy and claim that their group only focuses on conversions in a religious sense. Both do not identify as heterosexual or homosexual, but just "God's children."

As one can imagine, this rally and the efforts of Ruiz and Colon have not been met with cheers from the mainstream LGBTQ and leftist groups. Wayne Besen, founder of Truth Wins Out tweeted, "Far from a 'Freedom March,' the Religious Right exploited desperate and vulnerable LGBT people to hold a 'Fraud March' in Orlando, where these folks renounced their humanity to get a pat on the back from homophobic bigots.  Fortunately, the Truth Wins Out."

Pro-gay group, Conversion Therapy Dropout Network put out a statement, "There is no doubt that Ruiz and Colon have experienced extreme trauma during the Pulse massacre. However, going to the opposite extreme and professing the same rhetoric that severely impacts their community is an insult to those lost in the massacre. We understand the fear they feel living as queer people, but to join the bigotry that oppresses us is not the answer."  Christopher Cuevas of QLatinx, an Orlando based LGBTQ advocacy group said, "While we honor the freedom for expressions of faith, and hold the beauty of religiosity in our community, we cannot condone the gross misuse of religious text and faith to exploit LGBTQ people or support conversion therapy. The expressions of our queer and transgender identities are the embodiment of divinity and grace because we are living our most radical truth by celebrating and centering our LGBTQ identity." 

Colon made it clear that his group's intention is not to force homosexuals to become heterosexuals. He said, "We're trying to equip churches, even if they're not gay-affirming churches, with the resources they need and teach them not to judge the LGBTQ community. We're trying to share our stories through ministry and share the testimonies of people who've come out of the homosexual lifestyle. We are not at all advocates for conversion therapy or shock therapy. We stand with the gay community, and our main message is about falling in love with Jesus, but if an LGBTQ person wanted to talk to a pastor or counselor, that's a whole different story."    

The whole gay-conversion issue is a complicated one. Mainstream psychological organizations frown upon it. They claim that it does more harm than good. However, some homosexuals claim that it worked for them. This therapy may involve electroshock therapy where a homosexual is shocked with electricity when he or she is presented with homosexual content. It is a form of operant conditioning. The goal is to associate homosexual content with the electric shock in order to train the brain to avoid it. The concept does work, but eventually can wear out and would need to be reinforced. However, constant shocking and so on can cause anxiety and other problems as well.   

In any event, good for these young men. They are not looking to torment gay people, but to share their experience. There is nothing wrong with this. As Plato wrote in his Apology, "The unexamined life is not worth living." This is why many LGBTQ opt to commit suicide. The hedonism and other evils in the LGBTQ lifestyle waste away at the gay person's soul. They live an unexamined life that leads to depression and other problems which makes them feel worthless.  My prayers go out to all those struggling with the LGBTQ lifestyle. There is also the Catholic organization Courage, a group founded to help those who have homosexual tendencies live a chaste life. No conversion therapy is involved. Members are simply fed spirituality and prayer. They take their own steps and make their own decisions with the help of God's grace.

The fact that this news has triggered LGBTQ leftists shows that they are afraid.  We need to support and pray for these two young and handsome men that they do not fall into temptation. Already, they are being attacked on social media by their LGBTQ peers who claim their efforts are due to PTSD.  We can presume some may be trying to tempt them to rejoin the LGBTQ or may try to blackmail them by posting any inappropriate content the young men may have shared with partners or others on social gay apps.  People can be shady. 

Cuevas revealed his poor understanding of God and Scripture when he wrote in an email, "The expressions of our queer and transgender identities are the embodiment of divinity and grace because we are living our most radical truth..." God does not make anyone gay or transgender. These are developments that occur in the human species. They are not embodiments of grace or divinity. Living "one's truth" is also fallacious. Truth has to be universal, not just for the individual.  The real Truth Does Win Out in the end, Jesus. Jesus loves all people, including the LGBTQ. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is not a sin, only when it is acted upon. 
Chastity and homosexuality. In the catechism it states:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. They do not choose their homosexual condition; for most of them it is a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Gay Pulse Survivor Finds Jesus & is No Longer Gay

Many of us still remember the horrific attack at the now defunct Pulse Gay Nightclub. On June 13, 2016 at around 2:00 AM, Omar Mateen entered the club and began shooting people of all walks of life, both gay and straight. The Pulse Nightclub was a popular spot in Orlando for the LGBTQ community and others.

The event traumatized many and reminded us that nowhere is truly safe. While evil in nature, the event seemed to have brought out some good. One of the survivors, Luis Javier Ruiz who nearly died during the shooting has made a big announcement. Once a gay man, Ruiz now claims he has found Christ and has left the homosexual lifestyle behind. In a post on his Facebook, he writes:

Going through old pictures of the night of Pulse a memory were my struggles of perversion, heavy drinking to drown out everything and having promiscuous sex that led to HIV my struggles were real ! The enemy had its grip and now God has taken me from that moment and has given me Christ Jesus I'v grown to know his love in a deeper level. in this picture 2 of out of 49 my close friend on right and in back of me are no longer with us they lost there life that night. I should of been number 50 but now I have the chance to live in relationship and not religion not just loving christ but being in love with christ and sharing his love I know who I am and I am not defined with who the enemy says I use to be but who christ Jesus says I am.

The news is big indeed! While I personally do not believe gay conversion therapy works, but am not opposed to people from the LGBTQ community seeking it voluntarily, I do believe people can change behaviors. It is not easy to do, but it also is not impossible. As a Catholic, I believe even more that God's grace can build upon human nature, even where sin is severely present (Romans 5:20). Being a sinner is not the end of the story. This includes people from the LGBTQ community. While science shows no one is born gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or queers, this behavior is deeply rooted in many people. Psychologists, biologists and so on believe its origin is found in both nature and nurture, though not genetically. This is true for most behaviors humans exhibit, even phobias.

Ruiz seems to be an example of this. I hope he is being truly honest with himself and will not relapse into homosexuality. The Catholic Church does not consider being homosexual sinful, though the Church teaches that homosexual acts. Holy Mother Church calls those with homosexual or any sexual tendency, including heterosexuals, to a life of chastity. This includes even married couples. Some think the Church focuses on gays only, she does not. We are all called to chastity and purity. We are all called to respect our bodies, sexuality and that of others.

Young Ruiz has heard Christ calling him and is responding. Let us pray for him that he succeeds in his true transition; not one of gender or physicality, but one of seeking holiness and oneness with Christ.  Hopefully this journey will land him in the Catholic Church later on.

Ruiz made his announcement ahead of a planned march in Washington scheduled for May 5. This march is called the "Freedom March" and presents itself as a "celebration of freedom from homosexuality and transgenderism” Voice of the Voiceless, a religious organization is the one organzing the event. This organization seeks “to defend the rights of former homosexuals, individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction, and their families.”

Again, I do not believe anyone can just stop being a homosexual, but I do believe a homosexual can manage the intrinsic disoder via prayer, grace, self-control and support from others seeking holiness. It is a big cross to carry, but not an impossible one.

This group does not push the gay agenda nor tries to normalize it. Instead, it brings members to challenge it and seek God's lifestyle. Gay Massacre: 'Pulse' in Orlando

A popular gay nightclub in Orlando named Pulse was attacked by 29 yr old Omar Mateen born of Afghan parents in New York. Mateen entered Pulse and began shooting at everyone shortly around 2 AM EDT. The bartender had called the last call for drinks at around 1:45 AM. At first, club participants thought the sounds were due to the music.

However, when the smell of gunpowder and the sight of falling bodies was processed mentally, the people began to run for their lives. The gay club was having 'Latin night' celebrating the festivities surrounding the Puerto Rican day parade in New York City. About 300 were in the club at the time. 53 were injured and 50 were killed. This attack is being described as the worst mass shooting in American history and the second worst terrorist attack since September 11, 2001.

Mateen is described by his ex wife and co-workers as unstable. She claimed he beat her and had anger issues. Co-workers claim that he was racist and homophobic. His father has apologized to all for his son's actions. He apparently had a television show where he spoke on Middle Eastern politics. Mateen's father claims that his son saw two men kissing in Miami and that this may have set him off. So far it looks like Mateen was homophobic and in league with ISIS. 

Twenty minutes into the shooting, Mateen called 911 and pledged allegiance to Isis and its leaders. Moreover, the FBI had investigated Mateen twice, but let him go due to lack of evidence that he was involved in terrorist activities. Mateen worked as a security guard at a local court house. Because of this, he had a permit to carry a gun and was able to purchase the guns he used to carry out the massacre at Pulse.

The massacre has been condemned by Pope Francis and many others. However, the Lt. governor of Texas tweeted that "Man reaps what he sows" insinuating that the gays at the club got what they had coming. He deleted the tweets, but calls for his resignation are underway. Other fundamentalist religious leaders have also praised the killings. Some on Facebook and Twitter even hoped that there were more massacres at other gay venues. In fact, a 20 yr old named James Wesley Howell of Indiana was arrested at St. Monica. He had his car full of artillery and chemicals that are used to make bombs. Howell was apparently looking to attack the Los Angeles gay pride festivities and parade. Law officials claim there is no connection to him and Mateen, though it is suspicious the timing of it all.

The establishment Pulse was described by the sister of a missing man named Jimmy on CNN as having a bad layout. She claimed that there are hardly any exits and that a large entry way is chained off. This may have prevented many from escaping. Many of the survivors hid in bathrooms, under tables and even among the dead bodies. One lady was found under a glass bar. Others escaped via air conditioning vents or ran as fast as they could past the gunman Mateen. Parents who flocked to Pulse were visibly upset as some of them received texts from their kids inside the bathroom as the gunman held them hostage. There were a total of 30 who were held hostage. After a grueling three hours, the Orlando SWAT team broke through the club's wall with a armor vehicle and engaged the gunman in a shoot out killing him. One police officer was shot in the head, but his helmet saved his life. He has an eye injury though. Prior to this, the police had detonated what they believed to be a bomb. Isis has taken credit for the attacks.

The owner of the club, Barbara Poma gave a statement reading:

“Like everyone in the country, I am devastated about the horrific events that have taken place today, Pulse, and the men and women who work there, have been my family for nearly 15 years. From the beginning, Pulse has served as place of love and acceptance for the LGBTQ community. I want to express my profound sadness and condolences to all who have lost loved ones, please know that my grief and heart are with you.”

Poma started the gay club after losing her brother to AIDs. She named the club 'Pulse' in honor of her brother's beating heart.

This is a tragic time for the United States of America. Once again we are witnessing a massacre. From Columbine to Pulse, there seems no end in sight. I am especially concerned with this tragedy due to the fact that I have old school friends who are gay and moved to Orlando. They frequent this club and some even worked at it. It is sad that a night of some partying has turned to a massacre. While I do not condone the LGBT lifestyle, this does not mean that I do not love and appreciate my brothers and sisters in the LGBT. I am suffering with them. No one deserves to be massacred. The LGBT people are human persons made in the image and likeness of God. They have intrinsic value and do not deserve to be targeted by anyone. Shame on so-called religious folks who are gloating over this tragedy and calling it a "punishment from God." God is loving and merciful. While He hates sin, He loves the sinner. Sunday's Gospel reminds us of this where the sinful woman approached Jesus and used her tears to wash His feet and her hair to dry them. While the Pharisee who was sanctimonious condemned her, Jesus defended her actions and praised her true faith and contrition.

May God bless all those affected in this tragedy. May the souls of those who lost their lives rest in peace. May God have mercy on Mateen who was a lost soul.

The number of the deceased was lowered to 49.  The majority of them were Puerto Ricans. Some died with their partners.  Witnesses say that Mateen was calm throughout the ordeal.  He told hostages to "please stop texting and answering calls" and that there were other snipers. Mateen also stated that he had nothing against blacks.  An LA Times reporter spoke to a man who claims he texted with Mateen on a gay dating app and planned to meet and would ask about gay hangout spots.  He stated that Mateen would be near his location all the time.  Mateen is said to have frequented Pulse according to four patrons. He would get drunk and loud. Mateen may have been a closeted frustrated homosexual or may have been scouting gay venues in order to plan his attack.  He may have also planned to attack Disney in Orlando.

Many people have flocked to donate blood for the victims still alive. The lines stretch for blocks. Many of them had to be turned away.  Also, many brought in food, water, umbrellas and other items showing solidarity. Throughout the nation, many vigils have been held. In New York City, the Stonewall Inn held a vigil.  This is the birthplace of the gay rights movement.

Blind Man & Dog Miracle

Sometimes in life we can know something will happen.  For example, when we hear that a train ran over someone, we automatically think of death.  However, God is the one who decides when our time is up on this Earth.

A recent event in New York City is being called a 'miracle.'

Cecil Williams was waiting for a subway train on 145th street when he felt dizzy.  Williams is blind and gets around with the help of 'Orlando," his seeing-eye-dog.  Orlando the dog seemed to sense that Williams was in trouble and tried hard to tug at him in an attempt to pull him away from the edge of the platform.  Unfortunately, Williams fell and the weight of his body was too much for the dog Orlando.  Both fell onto the tracks.

What happened next is both horrific and amazing.  An "A" train entering the station came in and was about to hit both Williams and Orlando.  The people on the platform signaled to the conductor to stop, but it was too late.  The motion along with the weight of the train would not allow for inertia to dissipate despite the breaks being activated.

The train ran over both Williams and Orlando.  People gasped in horror thinking they have witnessed two living creatures being crushed and mangled by the train.  However, as 2 and a half cars rolled over both,  they were alive and well.  Orlando was licking the face of Williams in an attempt to keep him alert.  When the trained was moved, emergency workers and onlookers were surprised to find Williams and Orlando alive and unharmed considering a subway train ran over them.  Both suffered only scratches from the fall.

Orlando is 11 years old and was scheduled to retired.  Williams wanted to keep him but could not afford the dog.  Thank God many generous people came to the rescue by donation enough for Williams to keep Orlando.

God surely had His angels protecting Williams and the brave dog Orlando.  This is truly a miracle and should remind us that God is always in control.  Whether we go or stay a little longer depends on God.  May Jesus Christ be praised!
